    Re: too much iron

Just be sure that your supplements don't have any iron in them.

you visit your doctor regularly for normal blood work and it will show if you have tto much iron.

many folk don't absorb iron well from the intestines and can atually be anemic even eating Atkins without that iron in their supplements but your doc will tell you what your need as your needs change.

I have low iron and I have to take additonal suppliments. Can't imagine what it would be without the Atkins diet.

Was web surfing re. iron metabolism, storage and elimination. From some sources, it would seem that unless you have a rare genetic condition or receive regular blood transfusions, the body absorbs just what it needs; however, if iron overload has occurred it can be eliminated through chelation, as well as bloodletting, and according to one article, sweating. I found this article about dietary chelation:

            Anyone tried this?

Bloodletting? Dear lord, sounds like we've gone back a few hundred years. I take a multivitamin sans iron, but I use fitday too to track how much I'm getting just in case.
