  • Kidneys?

Sorry I ask a lot of question, but I'm new at this. I started Atkins on the 10th of this month, and so far so good, but over the last couple of days, every once and a while, I will get this real sharp pain on the lower right side of my back, right above my hips. The only thing I can think of it being, is my kidney. Should I be worried? Has his happened to anyone else?

If in doubt I think you should visit your doctor. Unfortunately we cant offer medical advice.

I hope is sorts itself out soon though.

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

This has happened before, started back in Oct or Nov, but it stopped for a while, now starting up again, so I don't think its atkins fault, but I will go to the doctor.

While Atkins won't cause kidney disease, you can't do Atkins if you already have a kidney disorder.

Better see a doctor to verify if you do have a kidney disorder.

Everyone Is Right. Go See Your Dr. I Know For Myself I Suffer From Reoccuring Kidneys Stones. My Doctor She Is The One Who Suggested Atkins, With A Minor Change. I Can't Eat Alot Of Dairy Products Because They Cause Me To Develop The Stones, So She Has Me Eating Low Carbs Fruits Instead. I Still Lose Lots Weight. You Should Really Go See Your Dr.

                Re: Kidneys?

My husband was having pain in his back that he thought was a kidney infection. He went out and bought a huge thing of cranberry juice--drank it in one night. The next day he wasn't any better and I made him an appointment. It turned out to be a prostate infection that he needed antibiotics to clear up.

Lesson here--you never know and it's important not to self diagnose. Get to the dr. to find out for sure and feel better soon!!
