It's the extra fats in your diet. It will settle down as you get further along. I never hd a problem with constipation, I was the opposite too. Avoid fried onions, they are notorious for me!

My bm's have actually gotten better since I started. All the junk food I used to eat was tearing me up inside.

Re: Why do I get the runs on this wol?

I had that problem in the beginning, I thought it was my body getting rid of the carbs and junk. It always seemed to happen right before a whooshie, but I am fine now.
What would we do without it?

Re: Why do I get the runs on this wol?

This just started happening to me last week. I have been on this WOE since 2-19-06 and I am now doing a modified OWL (25 carbs or less). I am not progessing the steps like in the book. I eat a lot of veges but, I noticed that I added 1/2 square of unsweetend Bakers chocolate and 1 tsp of splenda. So now whenever I eat celery or mushrooms I get the runs really bad.

That can happen from a lack of fiber. Try psyllium husk powder in capsules and see if that helps.

Hi! I am on Day 3 and the problem you are taking about started last night for me. I am pretty sure it will go away though.

Re: Why do I get the runs on this wol?

Could be your selection of a particular vegetable too. For me, lettuce tears my stomach up everytime I eat it. When I was younger I could (and did) eat a lot of lettuce with no problem, but I noticed about 6 years ago that everytime I had a salad, I had tummy problems. The same still holds true, so I limit my salads on Atkins. I still have a small salad once a week because I enjoy the cool crunchiness of it, but I just don't eat as much as recommended.

I would suggest too that you keep a journal of the foods you eat everyday and make note of any changes in your body along the way. That way you can begin to learn what your body handles well and what it doesn't. One thing I learned is that my body also hates caffeine, aspartame, msg and other preservatives. I now have veggies that don't bother my tummy, drink only decaf tea and coffee, stick with splenda or saccharin, and try to keep my foods as pure as possible. It makes all the difference in the world. You just have to figure out what works best for your own body...when God made us, he made one heck of a complicated machine!

                        Hope you feel better!
