  • Today is the grand finale

I have had it with sugar. Today is the last day it will grace my threashold. I am tossing all sugar products tonight and goin food shopping tommorrow. I have been concerned about my one son's weight and the other gets like crazy hyper (he's 3 almost 4). Hyper to the point of not even hearing you when you yell or threaten. After picking him up from school today and hearing that he was flying wild there after a french toast breakfast and cookie snack I'm convinced it is the culprit. I'm creating my own frustration. So I walk around some days very frustrated talking about cutting down etc. Finally it clicked why have it here at all. Toss it all. Kids will adjust and there are cetainly enough sugar free and healthier substitutes out there now. So today I bid many a cereal, snack, treat, cake or instant meal goodbye. I just have to remember this does not punish them it helps them. I was raised with many food rewards so still maintain alot of the "treat" mentality. I am done though for their sake. Wish me luck!

I had one son who was super sensitive to sugar. He was blonde, my only blonde, and the only one who seemed to be so 'twitchy' with the sugar. I have read that blondes are more sensitive in many ways... but anyway, I applaud you. French toast and a cookie would have sent mine into orbit also. Bet he turns into a little cherub once you get the blood sugar stabilized!

      sugar free angles

My son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes earlier this month so I had a lot of kitchen "cleaning" to do. You would not believe how much candy, pop, syrups, cookies, etc I got rid of. Even his cereals were secretly loaded with sugar. There are a lot of better food solutions out there, but the one thing I have heard repeatly from our diabetic team of doctors is to make sure they get their carbs becuase they use them to grow. For breakfast try things like waffles with all fruit jellies, 75% lower sugar cereals or a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. I support you completely in clearing out the bad stuff. My 4 year old has no choice and hopefully my 1 yr old will know no difference. I don't even want her introduced to all the evil "sugars".

So just got finished sweeping the kitchen of all sugary foods. I notice that he does act alot more sesitively to sugar than my other two. He's blonde too. The other two are darker hair and complexion. I hope this does the trick, can't hurt. I dropped the news to the 9 year old who I had take out the trash. Wasn't happy but I told him deal with it at least it isn't video games LOL. I think that this will be a good thing for everyone. After seeing the cupboard sugarfree it is startling to realize how much junk was actually kept there.

Funny you should mention this....my dh and I were having this conversation today. Last week I cut out all sugary snacks with my kids...and we had a great week behavior wise...well on Friday DH suggested that we go out for ice cream and all of Friday afternoon and evening were a battle and the kids were bouncing off the wall! My children are also blonde and I don't know if it is a coincedence but the blonder one is the one that gets the most wound up! So we are a low sugar house as well!
