barbiebabe, don't holler at me too badly. give me a week of soaking and doctoring and if it isn't better, i'll go to a walk in clinic and see if they can do something about the bumps. i do not have the cash to have a liver test and all that it involves and that is what they will do to get me on lamisil. i just don't have the money. i do believe the two things are unrelated. i have had the bumps before and doctoring made them go away.

i will say that after soaking last night, some of the redness was gone this morning. some "drying" happened overnight. i slept with the window unit on and my feet did not sweat as they have been doing.

Well, I didn't have to have any liver testing. And my worry is that you are going to fool around and end up badly infected (like someone else I know )

Lamisil is very expensive and my insurance wouldn't pay for it. They claimed that my problem was strictly cosmetic. I'm thinking that Lamisil costs somewhere around $135.00 a month and it takes 3 months of treatment to show any results. Even then I was told that it might not work.

I had been struggling with ingrown toe nails and infections on top of the fungus issues. My grand toes were in so much pain that I opted for having the nails removed altogether. Which my insurance would pay for.

barbiebabe, i can't believe that they didn't do some liver testing on you. they say on the commercials that lamisil could cause damage the the liver so you doctor might check for things. they are always covering their butts so it's odd, to me, that they didn't do any tests. was the cost of your stuff out of pocket or did insurance pay for it?

are you kidding me on that price??!!! well, there you go, i couln't afford that a month. i'll try these other things. i think my nails are not too terrible bad. not like what i have seen pictures of on the net. no were near the stage of having to be removed.
i was told the two problems i have are not related. so i will deal with each. i promise, everyone, i will not let my foot rot off.

just an update:
i have soaked for a couple of nights now. the bumps this morning are not as pronounced or red as they were. there are actually a couple little patches of dried skin. i thought it was wishful thinking but jack says it does look a little better. so the soaks will continue and i'll be getting a couple more things at the store today.

Well, you are assuming that you will be given Lamisil JJ. I don't remember that being the ointment I was given. I know I lost layers of skin on the bottom of my feet I waited too long.

Sorry about the feet problems Jimmie. I just read an email this morning with home remedies. It said that you should soak your feet in Listerine! Don't know if it works but it might be worth a try?

oh no, i am not losing any layers of skin at all. you must have been really bad with this stuff! yes, i am assuming i will be given lamasil. i just figured that is what is given to everybody that has this problem. it does appear to be better. some of the bumps are drying and i think that is a good sign. i told you i promise if it's not markedly better by weeks end i will go to a clinic and see what they have to say. i promise.

hey atkid.
i had copied down the product and the active ingredients of the product you showed in the link. off i went to the store and i found the exact thing. i looked at the active ingredients and it wa 10%. i continued to look at some other products claiming relief and found one that had the same active ingred. only at 25%. it was also a couple bucks cheaper. more bang for the buck and if it helps, it's a good thing. my nails don't look anywhere near what the nails look like on the package label.

with the rash, the other things took a back seat. toe nail fungus is going to take awhile to get rid of i think but i am doctoring that daily with the stuff atkid found (different product, same active ingredient). the creepy nastry bumpy thing that was going on is almost gone. i had to had a stryroid shot for the rash so perhaps that will help the other thing too. i can hope!
