Schools Urged to Teach Heart Education

Ok I have to chime in here. I don't know about al public schools but I know my children's school doesn't serve most of the things on that menu. The parents fought for healthier food for their kids and got it. Once a week the kids get 1 cookie with their lunch and that is normal like a peanut butter cookie.
To play devils advocate here if you don't like what the school is feeding your children then pack their lunch!!!

Wow, what a menu, no school around here has that kind of variety. Doesn't matter though for us, we pack lunch, and will continue to do so.

They are being told that meat, cheese, butter and eggs are bad. I about went ballistic when they gave kids information on why being vegetarian, instead of eating meat, was so good for them

I would talk to my children's school if they are saying that these things are bad. They are supposed to go by the food pyramid, and these foods are part of their daily needs. Oh and the food pyramid is changing to lower the amount of "bread" group.

If I could pack their lunch everyday I would. There is only so much one person can do. I don't think that it is unreasonable to expect some help from the schools

If my children had lunches like that I would get them involved with helping pack the lunches!
