Re: My Foot Hurts!
Surprisingly enough, I had this condition before losing weight. Since about 4 months ago, it has gone away on its own. There are special braces you can wear during sleep that hold your foot in a 90 degree angle with your shin. Hightop shoes may do just as well.
You need to realise that the facia have to reattach to the anchor points, which takes more than a day, and what happens when your foot is extended normally the facia start reattaching in a contracted state, causing them to tear away again each time you put your foot flat, at 90 degrees, as in standing. You want to keep the foot flexed long enough for them to heal in an uncontracted state.~Susan

Re: My Foot Hurts!
there are specal stretching exercises you can do for it too is yours in the ball of your foot or the heel area. if it is the heel area when you first wake up do stretches that will point your toes up toward your head and hold it there. repeat about 10 times. if it is the ball try squezzing your toes down toward your heels.
You can use ice to help control the swelling from the tearing too.
strengthen the muscles in your foot it will take some of the pressure off the connective tissues too, try picking up a wash cloth with your toes 10 times it if it easy use a marbel and work up to a golf ball also increas the number of lifts to about 100 each foot.
if you are exercising in old shoes new ones help a lot to support your foot better. if it lasts more then a week or gets worse see your doc about getting fitted for specail shoe inserts. they helpby the book atkinseer

Re: My Foot Hurts!
Wow both of you have really helped me understand this better. My pain starts on the insole part of my foot and goes up through the heel to the back of the ankle area. Thanks for the tips!Originally posted by 2big4mysizeoh and if you sleep on your tummy try hanging your feet off the end of the bed as that will maintnain the 90 degree angle Boonie stomper is talking about. if you sleep on your back move down till they contaxct the foot board

Re: My Foot Hurts!
I have this problem on both of my feet. I've noticed if I go too many days with out wearing the supports from the doc it starts to act up.
Exercise was slow for me in the begenning because it hurt so much but slowly the pain subsided and now, with the weight loss I rarely have problems.
I know this hurts and is a pain
! But stretch and wear supports and it will get better...
Good luck!

Re: My Foot Hurts!
Hope this picture makes it a little clearer
you could have 2 issues foing on. do you were heels? if so your achillies tendon which runs from calf to back of heel can be shortening which in turn is pulling your heel upward and stretching those planar ficia network at the other end which is the ball of your foot area. so you need to stretch out your heel tendon to take the pressure off your foot connective tissue networkby the book atkinseer

Re: My Foot Hurts!
Thanks you all! I don't wear heals unless there is a wedding or something, I no longer am in a job where I have to dress up so don't think I have that problem. I will try the stretching stuff, hopefully I won't have to go for the supports. By supports Adre, do you mean inserts from the pharmacy or did you have to have something made specifically for your feet?

Re: My Foot Hurts!
Thanks I will keep this in mind if it stays around too long. Unfortunately I have already dropped out of the 6 week exercise thing cause I just don't think I will be moving around too much any time soon.

Re: My Foot Hurts!
My supports were given to me from the doctor, they're hard plastic. At first they were really uncomortable but now I can't exercise with out them or else it'll start to really hurt. My doctor told me that the store bought kind didn't do much to help Plantar Ficisitous ( I can't spell and I'm too lazy to look it up lol
) but a friend of mine who recently developed the same problem was told differently from her doc. So who knows!
If you can try to find another way to exercise - bike riding or even the eliptical might be ok... if you have access to these things. If anything it'll help keep you in the exercise groove! I know once I get out of my groove it's sooo hard to get back into it!
