  • Missed period 2 months in a row

ever since starting atkins back in march my period has been really irregular, now I havent had my period in two months. Could it be just the diet that is causing my period to be late or could it be something else and its just a coincidence that my period has been messed up when starting atkins?

Atkins definitely messes with your hormones. 2 big or someone else will be along to give you all the details (I am NOT a good details person)! But, it is not unusual for this to happen when you first start.
of course there are other reasons for missed periods (hint hint......). I would suggest if this goes on for too long to get it checked out though.

I would get it checdked out immediately if it is at all possible your are preggo since your child is right now developing if you are and you only get one chance to do it rigfht.

If that isn't the case then you could be experiencing several things extra estrogen being released from your fat cells where it is made and stored along wiht your fat molecules you are burning off as fuel and if your body thinks your weight loss is from a famine it can cut off no life essentioal events and reproduction is one of those systems. you could have defiencies in other body hormones like thyroid that are messing with it if you didn't doi the preAtkins checkup and blood work.

Well I know I'm not preggo( a virgin). Should there be any other symptons I should be looking out for? I am not sure if this has anything to do with me missing my periods but I have been having stomach pains and sometimes it feels like a tighting around my stomach.

The stomach pain usually only occur after I eat though.

If I were you I would talk to my Dr. My cycle has been irregular cycle since day 1. My Dr. told me not to go more than 3 months without starting. He gave me some medication to make me start if I don't on my own.

I also suggest you talk to your dr. My periods were crazy a couple months ago before I even started Adkins. My dr suggested I get tested for PCOS (Polycyst Ovarian Syndrome). I was tested and my results came back negative for PCOS. Since starting Adkins I am finally getting regular periods. If you're still concerned about your periods I would consult your dr about your concerns.

**I just looked at my calendar here's what my body was going thru:

                Oct--46 days since last period
                Nov--none
                Dec--56 days since last period
                Jan & Feb--none
                March--67 days since last period
                April--33 days since last period

---after April I finally started getting regular period. Honestly keep a journal of when you get your period. I brought mine w/ me whenever I visited the dr so I wouldn't get confused w/ dates. It might just be your body's way of adjusting to the change in your way of eating, but I would talk to your dr just to make sure.

Just out of curiosity - have you been making sure you get all the nutrients you need, including fiber, vitamins and minerals? You should be taking supplements especially if on induction, as well as eating as varied as possible and as much allowed from your veggie choices.

It is well documented that nutrient deficiencies and imbalances can cause menstrual irregularities, even cessation, as well as other symptoms.

so go see your doc and let them run some blood tests to see if you have a medical conditon that is in the early stages right now and TOM will return on its own.

I agree, see your doctor. You'll want to make sure the missed periods aren't a symptom of something else...better to be safe and know.

My cycles are always irregular. They were 100% predictable when I was on the pill, but I got tired of putting hormones in my body for so long.

My dr had also mentioned to me that a big weight drop or gain can mess with your periods either delaying or prologing or making them absent alltogether but it shouldnt last long. missing more than one would make me go to the Dr pronto.
