  • Diarrhea question

    Hi,

My husband and I started an induction last Monday. I feel fine, but he is having diarrhea every couple hours since last night. It started on friday I think, and has gotten worse all weekend. It is keeping him up at night, and work is not too plesent. He has not been good at eating 3 times a day, but he is staying off the no-no list.

Im not sure what to do here. Should he eat more vegies? less vegies? drink more or less water?

We we on atkins over a year ago and he lost about 100 pounds. He heard from some friend that some doctor said it was bad to stay on the diet for a long time and we quit for about a year. I finally convinced him to get back into it.

    Re: Diarrhea question

Some sugar alcohols and artifical sweeteners can have a laxative effect--double check to make sure you're not consuming those. You could also try adding fiber (flax or psyllium) to food or water.

Can you rule out other possible causes? Maybe it's a food sensitivity that you hadn't noticed before.

Maybe it's food poisoning or something unrelated..? Do you have a menu to post?

He doesn't have to eat just 3 times a day, he should be eating when hungry, and stopping when full. You may want to post a menu in the 'review my menu' forum, perhaps there is something he is eating (like sugar alchol's as julierama mentioned).

He should definately keep up his water intake as diarrea can be dehydrating.
