  • Drug trials

    Hi

My dad has just been asked if he'd like to partake in trials for a new cancer drug. Its a new "blocker" drug that tries to stop the supply of blood to the tumour so it can't grow.

Has anyone on here had any experiences, or know of anyone who's done trials with cancer drugs before?

There's only about 4 hospitals in the UK that do this type of thing, so we don't know of anyone who's participated in our circle of family and friends.

Dad is really up for it, as he says, if people don't help in the progression of drugs, how will cancer ever be beaten!!

    Re: Drug trials

'Fraid I have no experience of this and don't know anyone who's taken part in such trials, so can't help you there...but I just wanted to say I think your father sounds wonderfully altruistic! All help towards beating what we call the "brutto male" (ugly illness) here in Italy is so desperately needed. Good for him!

      Re: Drug trials

Thanks Sally, Unfortunatley his cancer is inoperable, so any new treatments are vital, and we get them licenced in the UK if people like Dad are willing to test them! As we said, this could be the next miracle drug - you never know!!

We're pretty lucky in our area, most of the expensive drugs are authorised for use on the Nationsl Health Service - some people in other parts of the UK cant get them - how bad is that!!
