Crohn's Disease

Do we have any information about Atkins and Crohn's Disease? My Aunt has it, and my cousin called me today asking about atkins. She said her coworkers doctor recommended she go on the Atkins diet. She is concerned about the high fat and fiber. I explained to her that its good fats and no tansfats/processed foods, but in all honesty, I know nothing of Crohn's Disease and couldn't answer any of her questions. Not much luck with google either except that....

"Robert C. Atkins, M.D. states in his book, Dr. Atkins' Vita-Nutrient Solution, that he has a 85 percent success rate of treating CD patients with a sugar-restricted (low carbohydrate) diet and high doses of B-vitamins, including folic acid and pantethine."

You also might want to read some of Jordan Rubin's books. His recommendations are COMPLETELY COMPATIBLE with a low carb lifestyle. I am employing some of his recommendations myself while I am doing Atkins. Don't suffer from Crohn's disease myself, though.
