  • Getting Enough Sleep 'help'

    Okay when you start Atkins do you feel more energetic!? I really need some sleep. This is crazy okay. I am still a Highschool student, but I work at applebees.

    My day WAS suppose to start at 5 a.m. So I could go to the gym and workout for about a couple of hours.

    School starts at 8a.m. and doesn't finish til 3p.m. Well I just started applebee's and they have me working from 4:15p.m. til close. If I don't work close they are either cutting me at a certain time. Well I didn't have to close last night and I had a huge party. I got home at 12a.m. and didn't get in bed til 12:30.

    Then start the whole routine over.
    Woke up at 7 to go to school.

    I am so beat right now its exhausting.

    I tried telling my mom that I had a bad day yesterday, and not to mention I made about $35 dollars in tips which was *****. I just started this job and I am seriously thinking about finding something else or nothing til school is over with. To sum it all up, my mom just told me to get over it you're gonna have days like that. I know that but I didn't need to hear that from her at the moment.

    I am waiting til this week is over to talk to my Server manager about my work schedule. I normally don't sleep in class but holy jesus.

    Do any of you have any suggestions I am open to all!

    Extra energy does not replace lost sleep in the long haul. On the diet, you may find you have more physical energy, as well as improved mental attitude, but you still need your beauty sleep.

        angel, how are you dealing with this now that a few days have gone by?

        you stated you were going to the gym for 2 hours? a suggestion would be to cut that back to 1 hour. exercise is important but, like boonie said, you need your rest. changing the time up would give you an added hour of sleep.

        is there anyway that the manager could change the work schedule so that a high school girl wouldn't have to stay till midnight? even 1/2 hour would help.

          Ditto what Jimmie and Susan said. You really need your sleep. If you can't get your work hours changed, it might be best to look for something else.

            umm... I thought it was illegal for folks like, 17 and under to work after 10p, or is this only a PA/NJ thing??

            I agree that you don't need to go to the gym for a couple hours, any time is better than none, even 20 minutes if that's all you can do... umm... as for the party day, I wouldn't stay out until midnight on a school night, I guess that part's about priorities... as for the work thing, I would request a different schedule if you feel like you aren't getting enough sleep.

            Now my useless fact of the day - people who sleep less than the recommended amount are more likely to be overweight.

              Well truth is guys, at the moment I know I said I was on my fourteen day induction. I actually stopped for the moment. I got really sick from to much work and not enough sleep, that I had a very bad infection in my throat. You know synis {sp} infection. My doctor was even like.. jeezzz about it.

              No fear though, as I told Sadie I am starting back on the program tomorrow. WOOT! And As for the schedule, I don't work til this Friday, but I do believe shes starting to schedule me differently. So that I do get cut early. Well see though.

              Lyssie, it is true its 17. But I am 18. Which in its own way sucks but yea. I guess when you turn 18 they think you care more about the job then school. Ekk....... I have four months left and I rather not blow them off.

                  Liz, you need your sleep to recouperate your body from the day's events. And if you're working out hard (2 hours!! Sheesh!), you need even more. You don't want to injure yourself b/c of lack of sleep or from over-working yourself. Hope the new schedule works out to your benefit. Life is too precious to be stressed out and exhausted at 18!! I cheering for ya!!!
