I've been eating eggs everyday for breakfast mixed with different kind of omelets for variety. Should I not be eating eggs everyday and will it cause high cholesterol? Or only is it if combined with high carb? Eggs are just the easiest breakfast meal to cook on the go.

Re: Eggs everyday a healthy choice???
please read over the provided link and see if the answers are there that you are looking for.
personally, i think you'd have to eat a boatload of eggs each day to have any adverse effects. if there were dangers by eating 1 or 2 each day, i think Dr. Atkins would have been forthcoming in our DANDR.

Re: Eggs everyday a healthy choice???
Eggs everyday are fine. In DANDR, Dr. Atkins says that one of the most common questions that were asked was if cholesterol would go up because of the liberal amounts of eggs and meat, etc. The answer: no. Your cholesterol is probably going to go down.
Did you get blood tests done before starting Atkins? That would reassure you if you were still doubtful.
I eat eggs everyday too
I learned how to fry them in the microwave. And hard-boiled eggs are the perfect protein snack.

Agree with Jimmie: If there were dangers in eating them, we would not be allowed to eat them in liberal amounts on a daily basis.Juli

Re: Eggs everyday a healthy choice???
I've been eating 3 or 4 or even more eggs a day for a very long time. My HDL and LDL were tested recently and just fine.
Ironically, a dietician told me a little later I should only allow 3 or 4 yolks in my diet a WEEK!
Needless to say, I'm ignoring that piece of advice.~ Terry ~Eat to Live, Not Live to Eat

Re: Eggs everyday a healthy choice???
Most research indicates no adverse health risks associated with moderate egg consumption (1 a day). Even traditional low calorie diet gurus admit that eggs in moderation are not as harmful to health as once thought. The best way to prove this to yourself is to get your cholesterol checked often (a good idea even if not on a diet).
I don't however believe that eggs are safe simply because Dr. Atkins says they are. There are two kinds of cholesterol--the kind that comes from the foods you eat, and the more dangerous kind, which the body produces (genetic). There are people who consume absolutely no cholesterol in their diets that have high cholesterol and heart disease (David Letterman, Darryl Kyle, etc)--some people are genetically predisposed to produce high levels of harmful cholesterol. Diet does not seem to have much affect on that process. The old way of thinking was that "you are what you eat", and that if you consumed fat, you'd get fat, and if you consumed cholesterol, you'd have high cholesterol. Most of those myths have been debunked.
In any event, when I'm doing induction, eggs are always a staple. They'd almost have to be, or you'd soon run out of things to eat!

I had posted the link above recently, and do so again for everyone's consideration. Like I said, I've been eating LOTS of eggs for ages and my HDLs and LDLs are in range. ("LOTS" being at least 2 a day, at times 3 or 4.)~ Terry ~Eat to Live, Not Live to Eat

Re: Eggs everyday a healthy choice???
I eat 2 eggs for breakfast. I snack on devilled eggs throughout the day. I put a chopped egg on top of my salads. So I eat at least 5 eggs a day and I'm fine.My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.

Re: Eggs everyday a healthy choice???
About a month ago, I was have bad stomach pains. I had contributed it to the greasyness of the eggs I was eating. So I cut down my egg intake and it seemed to help. But then again it may have been the overeating of almonds. I think they are hard for my stomach to digest. Eating more oatmeal and whole grain breads has helped too.Erica, 30, Female, 5'5"
