    Re: Restless Leg Syndrome

Can't hurt to try it...then you wouldn't need the meds doctors like to prescribe. Good luck.

Sorry, I meant no disrespect to your husband. I think we need doctors. I just think *some* of them like to treat symptoms instead of the underlying issues. May I ask how long you tried massage therapy and if it helped you at all?

          Re: Restless Leg Syndrome

Ii havent had an attack of RLS in quite some time...lucky me. I am wondering what brings it on now that it seems more intermitent. Belive it or not I tried the bar of soap trick the last time I had it and it worked. You take a bar of soap and place it in the bed near your legs. My husband thought I had lost my mind....He also said that my relief was psychosomatic, which it very well could have been. But hey, whatever works. What scares me and makes me laugh as well is the list of side effects for the drug Mirapex, "you may get sudden strong sexual urges and urges to gamble." ??????????????Gamble? That to me is pretty strange.

LOL...you're fine! Those are the MD's.. *wink wink nudge nudge* (My hubby is a DO).
For the first few years, they weren't sure what the deal was. Mostly I heard it was all in my head or they were muscle spasms. They did try PT for a bit, but that did nothing. When I was around 19-20, I did some masage therapy weekly for around 6 mos.Just didn't do anything for them. They told me to massage my muscles when I had RLS symptoms as well, and that only makes it worse.
Soo.....is that what you wanted to know?

              Re: Restless Leg Syndrome

I had read that it's best not to drink milk before bed if you have RLS, so my husband tried that for a bit and found it was helpful. Problem was that he needed it before bed to help with his GERD. So it was always one or the other. Then I later realized it was the dairy in my diet that caused my RLS to start as well. So now that I've cut it out again it's totally better. I think it has to do with the calcium stopping the obsorbtion of other nutrients or something.
