      Re: Hair loss

Take biotin but make sure you take 2000 mg or whatever they go by. Anyless than that will not help.

Sorry to hear you're having this prob Kelly. Some people do, when their body is "surprised" by the changes (weight loss). Take comfort though... it usually stops after a while.

            Hi Kelly

Mine started to fall out for a couple of months, but its growing back now really fast and thick!! I dont know if its to do with the diet or stress (which I did have at the time)

But I asked my hairdresser - and she explained that our hair does have a life cycle - and will part fall out and regrow in a 7 year cycle!! I dont know if this is true, but the 7 year thing works with my age!!

                Re: Hair loss

from what i understand, hair loss can come from stress or things that happened 3 or so months from the past. it may not all be related to changing your woe.

A lot of people think it could be hormones from having the twins. Although that was 2 years ago i went to the dr. about 6 mo. ago and he said my aches and pains were hormonal! Never had that problem w/ the other 2. SO weird. ugh

kellyf48 I have been using Nioxin system 8 (there are different systems for you hair needs) which is a scalp therapy and cleanser for 1 year now and my hair is super thick and hardly any shedding. I have always had shedding and when I turned 30 my hair started thinning out well Nioxin has given me back my former 22 year old hair. Some people have had an allergic reaction it has a minty tingling sensation but I noticed my hair improve in 6 months and now its so thick people compliment my hair after I diligently used it 1 year now.
You can read reviews on Rateitall or Eopinions. It was suggested by my stylist and it is a Godsend for me.
                    I ordered it from sn2000.com

                        Re: Hair loss

It does grow it if you have some left it does not grow if you lost most of it. My hair is thicker now and much fuller in a ponytail so hair count does increase or at least stays thick because of hardly shedding or falling out excessively. just my year long experience with it. I have a thick full head of hair. Good luck everyone

                          Re: Hair loss

For about three months before I got pregnant last year, my hair was falling out so fast I was sure I would be bald. We are talking fist fulls of hair in the shower--so much I'd have to clear the drain twice, and massive amounts in the brush afterwards.

I think it was a cycle though because even though I was losing so much and my hair ended up thinner, I now am losing minimal amounts and my hair is shinier and thicker than before.

Before you got pregnant? and it wasn't "normal" for you to lose that much? Were you on hormones? Just curious. Thanks

                              Re: Hair loss

I started Atkins March of last year and got pregnant August the same year (2006) Starting about May (2006) I began losing clumps of hair and it kept getting worse and worse. I stayed on Atkins for about 3 months after gettng pregnant and I kept losing hair but it began getting much better until it all but stopped toward my due date.

Now I have normal loss during the shower and brushing. I think it must be a cyclical thing because I've had that happen to me before when not doing Atkins. It's frightening to run your hands through your head while shampooing and have gobs of it come out. Unless you have something like alopecia you should regrow it all back with time.

If you are seriously concerned something like that is going on I'd go see a dermatologist a.s.a.p.
