  • What's on my foot?

I am trying to figure out what’s on the bottom of my foot. Last week, I had to walk home because the bus routes were cut off due to a police situation (some guy barricaded himself in his home, I heard). The walk home was a couple of miles and took about an hour.

I was wearing shoes more comfortable than sneakers, and with much more padding. I think it may have been the socks. But after about 20 minutes the ball of my foot started hurting quite a bit, from friction. I limped on it the whole night and somewhat the next day-I was convinced it was a blister.

It can’t be a blister though, there’s no bubble. There’s still a dark circle patch there and it feels thick when I press on it. Is it a callous? I didn’t think those could form right away?

I think it's probably a callous. There's probably a blister deep underneath there. Sorry about your foot

        Thanks Meena and Miss Phode.

It's pretty strange looking, that's for sure. Definitely a bruise or blister deeper in, but at least it doesn't hurt anymore!

            Possibly a stone bruise?

Stone Bruise - as the name implies, occurs when you take a hard step on a rock or other pointed object. Sometimes you feel the pain instantly and other times you may not notice it until the next day. It will feel like a bruise on the back portion of your heel. The painful spot is usually easy to poke and is located deep to the pad of the heel, on the back outside corner.

Sounds painful. I'd go have it checked if it keeps giving you trouble.

                Re: What's on my foot?

Thanks D14965, Atkid and Sally. It might be a stone bruise, but it's hard to tell because I can't see much past the calloussed (is that a word?) skin. It doesn't hurt much with socks or walking on carpet, but it's a little sore when walking on the tiled kitchen floor.

I have a doc appt next week, I will ask her to take a look at my foot too.

Jcapulet, is it on the ball of your foot? I get a callous there sometimes from shoes.

Yes it's on the ball of my foot...but it's like a callous on the wrong side of the skin, if that makes sense.

Speaking of callouses, when I was younger I had a huge one on my finger from drawing. I also had a cluster of warts on top of the callous...is that gross or what!

                        Re: What's on my foot?

It's possible that you created some sort of deep bruise from just walking, either a distance that you weren't quite ready for, or in shoes which changed the characteristics of your stride. I would think that's probably the case. Essentially imagine that the weight-bearing part of your foot is now swollen and bruised, and you can't see it. That would cause pain and be too deep to be seen. Though I will say that it's possibly other things too, so if it doesn't go away, go see the doctor.
