  • Anyone think it is harder to lose on metformin?

I know it is supposed to help but.......... I'm not so sure! My blood glucose readings are excellent as long as I stay low carb and exercise. It is also supposed to be helping the pcos.

I was having muscle pain , low vitamin b levels and blood sugar drops so we cut the dose (dang hair is shedding like a fiend now!). I cut it further again on my own a month ago. Blood glucose was still good. I took my last dose on friday.

Blood sugar readings are excellent. It seems I have really had a hard time making progress in the last year with my weight since I have been on metformin. I'm wondering if the metformin could be a factor. I know the dr said it helped some lose. I didn't experience that.
Since having the last dose friday I had a significant weight drop by sunday. Conincidence? I guess time will tell.

My only issue with stopping is my poor hair!~ I hate the vitamin b shots that are necessary due to the metformin for me. However I haTE losing my hair when cutting back or quitting.

Anyone have any opinions or experience with this?

    Michelle,

For most women with PCOS, taking Metformin helps them shed pounds faster, but not necessarily. When I originally started taking Metformin for PCOS years ago, I did NOT experience weightloss, only diarrhea. Even after several months of taking the medication, I lost only a few pounds. However, other people I knew lost a lot of weight. Like supplements, how medication works in the body can vary from person to person. I lost a lot of my hair as well...some of it grew back, but it's pretty thin now, especially compared to what I had. Hope yours grows back!!

You could take Vit B 12 supplements, but it's not like getting those shots. I'd stick with the shots until your doctor tells you otherwise. Then go for the supplements.

    Take care and good luck!!

Thanks Biogeek. I actually took my last dose of the met friday morning. I'm going to try it without it for a while. I figure a good month or two without it should let me see if the met really makes it harder to lose weight or not!
I reordered Andrew Lessmans "hair, skin and nails" . I took it before and liked it. However I was also taking the met with it. I've shed alot since cutting the met dosage a few months ago. I also quit taking the hair skin and nails at the same time so I can't say which was helping the hair or both. I can say my hair was growing like a weed. I figure it can't hurt to try the hair, skin and nails again. I ordered a 250 day supply.
According to the dr the low b was caused by the met so I'm assuming I will need NO shots once it is out of my system.

I've never used Andrew Lessman's products. Let's hope you continue to have good luck with his supplements!

Uh huh cuz they are pricey!!! I've only used the hair skin and nails. I'm a stylist and had 3 clients using it who's hair took off growling like weeds so I tried it for about a year. Then I tried walmarts version (not the same!)

Did you order it through QVC? That's the only place I've ever seen his products for sale.

You can also order on his site here http://www.procapslabs.com/PCL/Pages...FUtyOAod_Tw1dQ

The prices are the same unless 1 site runs a special.
