  • folliculitis going away!

I dont know if any of you guys have suffered from this.....it's called
folliculitis and it's basically an infection of the hair follicule. I've had this for ages (since my teenage years)..on my arms.....and specially my buttocks (reason why i never wear thongs)!
I even went to the dermatologist several times to see what he could recommend..they always told me that I had to wear loose fitting clothes, mostly made of cotton. Yeah right!..I gained more weight and it got worse.

Now thanks to Atkins my skin is softer, less folliculitis!!!!yay!
Honestly...its weird because before I use to avoid anything fatty because of my skin condition. Sadly it never went away until now. Also since my skin is folding less...less pores being opressed by the skin and rolls...it is clearing. Im so amazed...I used to buy so many creams in order to have a soft skin. Im still using but Im very happy that the follicullitis is going away...i still have some...but 70% of it is gone in only 1 month...
So maybe I'll eventually get to wear nice sexy lingerie!!

    Re: folliculitis going away!

I have skin problems too & reading that someone fights them with Atkins is more than inspiring! Thank you, really! ^^ I haven't had folliculitis, but I have bad, pale skin - so all deffects can be seen on my arms, face, legs. I haven't improved it on myself, but more than often I hear that Atkins helps with getting a nice, soft & good lookin' skin.

    +5 for Atkins!

CW: 145 lbs (not following atkins).

I also have very dry skin and keratosis pilaris which is similar to folliculitis. It is so funny you posted this because I (and my DH) have noticed that my skin is MUCH smoother and softer since starting Atkins 5 weeks ago. I am not sure if it is the increased fat or the water but I'll take it!

i get that folliculitis on my scalp and chest ALL the time. It can be very painful and unsightly but it didn't start until I started killing bags upon bags of doritos at a time so hopefully Atkins helps

Interesting....mmm..I've though about it for years...I did put on all types of acnes creams...and all that weird derma/pimply stuff creams that did not work. I think that all those horror stories of Low Fat diets affected us (do not eat fat still echoes in my head). I truly believe that if you are eating a healthy amount of fat the skin behaves differently. Since I was always on a low fat diets my skin was really horrible. Now my buttocks are amazing !!!

Im happy about my skin ....believe me I still have scars, spots and blemishes from the folliculitis....But it's is going away.

                  Re: folliculitis going away!

I too have Keratosis pilaris and never noticed it until I really began putting on weight after college. When I first did atkins back in 2004 I noticed the KP had nearly gone away! Which was very exciting. Now my arms were not only too fat for sleeveless shirts but the unsightly red bumps were gone!

Now, 2008, back at my original starting weight the KP is back and in full swing Just as it was 4 years ago. Looking forward to starting Atkins again soon and saying goodbye to my KP AND MY FAT DEPOSITS!
