    Re: Salba or chia seed?

Costco is now selling chia, believe it or not. In the pharmacy section, brand name Webber Naturals brand, just under $14 for 360 g.

        Re: Salba or chia seed?

I've invented some weird things to fit my dietary needs & my desires at the same time. Some of them I'd hesitate to post because I think I just have strange tastes, but I'll post this anyway - it's a new favourite for me.

Okay, I had some cold coffee, put a cup in the blender along with about a half cup of water, 2 T chia, 1 tsp cinnamon, and a few drops of vanilla-flavoured stevia (which as far as I can tell is induction-friendly). Blend for quite a while so the seeds get totally pulverized and smooth. Then you can microwave for a hot coffee drink, or drink it cold. It's like a shake - very thick from the chia. I LOVE cream in my coffee but cut it out for induction because I don't see the point of 2T cream. This satisfied my need for creamy.

This morning I made it and added 1T virgin coconut oil (I am a coconut fanatic), and it's even creamier.

Anyway, you might not like this at all but I sure do!

        cheers,
        Sue

That sounds interesting! I'd like that maybe with a bit of soy milk in it to 'cream' it up a bit...we have a local coffee chain here that makes an iced coffee called an Ice Capp (loaded with sugar of course), i think with a bit of soy milk it might be similar!

So far i've been having my salba mostly in my protein shakes or with yogurt..

Thanks for letting me know about this..I did end up finding it there!

I tried it plain, and it does have a bit more flavour (very mild though) than Salba, but once mixed in my yogurt i couldn't tell the difference.
