    Re: Flaxseeds Superfoods

I like to eat mine as seeds rather than mill. I usually put them in my yogurt or just pop a bunch in my mouth and chew 'em up. Yummy!

That's fine to eat the seeds as is, but just know that you're not getting all the goodies found within the flax seed, i.e. the omega 3 oil, because the outer hull is difficult for us to digest. You are, however, getting fiber from the whole seeds.

Is chewing not as effective as a grinder

          Re: Flaxseeds Superfoods

LOL true, teeth are good at grinding most foods, but most folks do not chew their food long enough to effectively grind flaxseeds. Since flax seeds are tiny and have that hard outer coating, one has to be willing to chew A LOT or have really strong teeth...which can still be difficult to effectively "crack" most of these seeds. Most folks live in a hurry-up society and are not willing to take the time to chew thoroughly; therefore, grinding seeds in a mill is a good assurance in making sure one gets all the goodies in a measured amount. If you really enjoy eating whole flaxseeds, no reason to stop. You just may not be getting all the nutrients from them as you think you are.

great info. I think I am the biggest fan ever of the muffin in a minute. I am always recommending it to people and handing outt he recipe. And it is really healthy even if someone is not low carbing

Thanks for all this info and encouragement on flaxseed. I bought a bag and threw a spoon of it in tuna salad, pretty easy even for me. Makes the tuna a little more interesting and if it is as good for me as the article says, I will be better for it!

              Thanks again.
