I am curious about peoples experiences taking either ibuprofen or celebrex long term for arthritis.

    Re: Arthritis

Ginny, I been taking ibuprofen for my psoriatic arthritis for years (nine or ten years). I was taking 800 mg 3x/day, but my doctor reduced it to 600 mg because the higher doses were causing my blood pressure to increase. As for Celebrex, it didn't help me at all. Unfortunately, the other medications that DID work well have been removed from the market, most notable, Vioxx, which caused many folks to have heart attacks and/or strokes.

I am now under the care of a rheumatologist, and hope to get off ibuprofen soon and use something else that doesn't cause edema.

Best of luck to you, Ginny!
