...after a surgery nightmare!
On April 2, 2009, I finally had tubal ligation surgery. The surgery was only to take about an hour or two, but they found a teratoma (growth) attached to my fallopian tube. The surgery went on for longer than expected. To make a very long story short, my intestines had gotten slightly twisted and they didn't want to wake up from the anaesthetic. IE: I couldn't poop. I suffered for two days before being admitted back into the hospital. While I wasn't hungry, I was definately thirsty. Found out that my IV had glucose in it. The nurses didn't know why my sugar was 347!? Type 2 diabetic here!!
Anyway, one of the nurses fixed my IV to just saline and I was still runing a little high, but it was under 200, at least.
On day 3 I started drinking 3 oz of liquids every 3 hours and by day 4, I was eatting whatever I wanted, but I wasn't hungry. The thought of eatting meat made me want to hurl. Needless to say, I dropped the Atkins mantra and began eatting whatever I could get down that didn't make me nauseous. After 13 days of diarrhea and consuming mass quantities of yogurt, I finally became regular.
I've been trying to get back on track with Atkins for about two weeks and have finally succeded for two days now. For some reason, meat was just making me ill. I feel really good again and I'm glad it's all over now.
I'm so glad to be back!!!
