My Dh is one of those people we all love to hate. The type that can eat 2 whoppers and fries and loose weight, tall skinny ect types. Anyways, all his health numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol et) have always been in a normal range. he went in for his work related health screening and thye make you sit down with a counselor. Anways, she looks at his number and says, "everything is signifigantly better than last year, what have you done different?" He of course says "Oh, you don't want to know" and of course she does. So he explains that his wife went on Atkins almost a year ago and has lost over 100 pounds and that he has been eating pretty much an Atkins Maintainance diet and his carb intake has dropped. She then turn around and berates him on how unhealthy it is and how it can't be maintained. But he of course argues that she is thinking about induction and isn't considering the elmination begining building into a nicey balanced diet - not to mention the TONS of vegtables. She scowls with him abotu it more and then begins INSISTING that he eat more carbs. and her big suggestion...... no not leafy green veggies, no not potatoes with skin on or beets or carrots, nope, not brown rice or oatmeal....BREAD - of all the hugely processed, refined and generically crappy (yes I know some breads can be fine - but as a whole they generally are not. Most flours themselves are highly processed and really there are better choices in the carb world)
So there you have it - eat maintainance, bring you numbers down to a FABULOUS range, healthy weight and then get told to eat bread...... how comical
