  • Phentermine

Ok I've been doing atkins since Monday. I did it in college and lost 14lbs in 2 weeks. Now I've been doing it since monday and I started at 214 and now I'm at 210.6. I've also been going to the gym everyday and doing the ellipical for 30 minutes and the sauna for 15minutes. My first goal is to hit the 100s. After I hit the 100's I plan on using more machines. I'm drinking all my water and also taking a womans one-a-day. Complete and drastic change since last week and the rest of my summer. I was soo lazy and I wasn't using my gold's gym pass. Ok well today I took phentermine and I see nothing wrong with taking something to help me. I still plan on sticking with atkins! Has anyone been on both Phentermine and Atkins?

    Re: Phentermine

Ketosis is your Phentermine on Atkins.

The only thing Phentermine does is suppress your appetite, so it helps you lose weight by eating less. On Atkins, you are in ketosis, which brings along appetite suppression.

Now you might be wondering... "But if I take Phentermine and do Atkins, I will eat even less than doing just Atkins. So that's awesome, right?" No. On Atkins, you eat as much as your body needs. Suppressing your appetite further will most likely make your calories drop significantly and what you would end up doing is a low calorie Atkins. There is research indicating that low calorie, low carbohydrate diets do damage on the thyroid.

Best thing to do is follow Atkins correctly. Good for you to be exercising! Add some strength training to your exercise program too --- it really makes a big difference, not only in weight loss, but also in the way your body looks and in your attitude.

I had to look it up, since I had not heard of it. No, I don't take it. In fact, I have never taken any diet pills, prefer to do the best I can with healthy food in right quantities and exercise. Atkin's, if followed properly, is an appetite suppressant itself.

Hopefully, you have done research on this and know the risks. I read this info: Phentermine: MedlinePlus Drug Information

There can be side effects, some irritating, some serious. There is a caution it can be habit forming and should only be used short term.

I think my doc would have to prescribe it and make it clear to me why he did before I would consider it.

Yea I was told it suppresses the appetite. The last thing I want to do is damage my body. So I'm going to make sure I eat my 3-4x a day plus the water. I do not want to go into starvation mode whatsoever. It's giving me energy thats for sure! But I already had that with the diet! It's also very motivating!

I've been doing Phen for a few months now. I see nothing wrong with needing some help with you appetite. People take pill for all kinds of things. To get pregnant, to keep from getting pregnant, to stop smoking, Ect., Ect, Ect. Not to mention all the vitamins people pop in a day. So if a person needs help with dieting they should get it. My appetite has never gone down doing Atkins.
My post I posted in the main forum, about staying full? Is because I'm taking a 2 week break from phen so I don't get addicted.
I am under close watch from my doctor so I feel safe.
Good luck to you, ttugurl. If you would like to chat, don't hesitate to pm me.
My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.

It's indeed very sad that we are taught every problem can be fixed with a pill, because it causes people to take an unnecessary number of drugs. For example, many folks ask their doctor for antibiotics when they have a cold, even though they might have a viral cold. This is why I try to take as many vitamins/minerals as I can from food and avoid taking any other drugs unless absolutely necessary. Vitamin supplements, taken in the correct dose (and consulting your doctor if you are taking any other medication), should not cause any side effects.

              So true, Georgiana,
I see some folks list at least 10 different vitamins that they're taking and I just have to wonder what they're eating (or not eating) that they need so many pills.
