    Re: Fashionable fat

That's a very interesting article, thanks for sharing.

One thing that really struck me moving from London to Ireland is how well women here wear weight. London is a super-competitive marketplace; you wouldn't consider wearing a short dress with anything but Kate Moss legs, and no cropped tops would ever reveal even a hint of pooch. It's like LA or Miami in that there is not exactly a plethora of varied body types around you.

Women here seem in general more relaxed and while healthy, less rail-thin as a rule. It's refreshing to see; nicely rounded is a good look for more women then we might guess looking at fashion magazine (which are uniformly banned in my house.)

Having said that, I'm utterly aware that I'm about 40 pounds past "nicely rounded", and another 15 from the "rail thin" I was when I was 20!

      Re: Fashionable fat

Always comforting to see that a "real figure" is getting popular again.
I used to be called "comfortably upholstered" by a boyfriend when I was in teens. Course I got way beyond that, but now, happily, I guess I could term myself that again thanks to Atkins!

        Re: Fashionable fat

The current interest in the 1940s could have some pay off.

Men's clothes expected broad shoulders and a sturdy trunk, women's, the hour-glass with plenty hips and bosom.

Today mature men and women are expected to look like 16 year old boys - an impossible model for both sexes.

Not only is it impossible, but it's not even real. The amount of PhotoShopping that goes into reducing perfectly thin models, adding six packs, etc would blow your mind. So not even those people look like that!
