  • Gall bladder and Atkins

I have been diagonised with gall stones along with diabetes and low thyroid and high cholesterol, so too much at once, the gall stones were actually diagnoised last year and everytihing else this year, and I have to watch the fat or I get some pain.
How will I do on low carb with the gall bladder issue. Does not eating the carbs make a differance in eating the fat that I am not really supposed to have or will I have to do a low fat , low carb, which does not sound very fun. I guess I will know pretty quickly if I get pain when I eat. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this ?
    Thanks,
    Stephie

If you get pain, then try to lower your fat intake a little (do not eat low fat though!)... and experiment until you find a level at which there's no pain.

      Re: Gall bladder and Atkins

The interesting thing is, I was starting to get gall bladder pain when I ate anything, fat free or otherwise and since started Atkins my pain is all but gone. I can eat the fattiest foods and get either no pain at all, or hours later a tiny little twinge, it is crazy. I really thought this diet would be a nightmare for my gall bladder but it seems happier on it !!
I could not be more thrilled !!

Yeah, I am pretty excited. I was starting to get worried when it hurt even after low fat meals, I was scared surgery was in my immediate future, now, maybe not..... a huge relief !!

You can get lower fat butter. You can buy almost any other creams lower fat, like sour cream. I have found low carb low fat salad dressings

            it can be done.

Thanks !! I am not sure I have to do that though. That has been the shocker. I have eaten bacon and a lower carb fatty sausage and real butter and a bit of limited one to two ounce servings of cheddar and no problems. Last week trying to eat "healthy " low fat, lots of whole grains, it hurt bad every meal. Since starting low carb, eating high fat, only a few minor twinges and not even close to every meal. It makes you wonder again at the fat/ carbo combo and if that is what causes it ??
