  • Help! Bp too low now??

Ive been feeling extremely fatigued and lightheaded and a lil nauseus..so i decided to take my glucose and blood pressure readings. Blood sugar was fine...but my bp is 97/70!
Im taking Hyzaar for high bp.... is it possible after losing a Small amt of weight the med needs to be reduced? I plan to call the drs office in the morning. Anything I can do in the meanwhile to feel better? Any feedback appreciated.

    Claudia,
Sorry I don't have an answer to your question but I am having the same symptoms as you are and I also have high blood pressure although due to insurance reasons I'm not able to get refills of the med I was taking. I was thinking how I've been feeling is low blood sugar (I'm not diabetic though) and never thought it could be my blood pressure. Please post back on what your doctor says about this I would be very interested to hear it.

Atkins has a good effect on BP numbers. People with high BP frequently find it comes down. Perhaps you need to adjust your meds... if so, that'd be awesome!

As far as I'm aware your bp isn't too low at the moment. Under 90 systolic is considered hypotension. It's probably a combination of your meds and doing atkins so a trip to see the doc is a good idea, they can check if your meds need to be adjusted. Your diastolic pressure is fine cos it's under 80.

Hope this helps and you feel better.

Update. I have an appt for next week. They said any time there is a weight change it can affect your meds. So they might need to lower it. Yay. They also said anytime there is more than a 20mg drop that can cause hypotension symptoms. But i probably shouldnt be too concerned, until then, just keep an eye on it. And it the meantime to drink more fluids and maybe increase my salt/potassium intake a little (ha, never heard i should increase). But since starting the diet i really havent added salt to anything and have started drinking a ton of water , which i never drank before..so i was probably always dehydrated..which contributed to the high blood pressure.
Once again..the Atkins diet has really been a boost to overall health and im really grateful to have found this woe.
