snow, i can relate. I know that pain pills are very addictive. My soon to be Mother in Law had chronic back pain for a long time, and got vicodin perscriptions...she too became addicted to them, and it totally turned her life upside down...she even used her daughters to get pills
She'd have them go to the Dr. and coach them about what to say so they could get them for her...they were only 18 (twins) at the time and they lived with their mom, and they knew how she was without the pills so they felt like they had no choice. Thankfully, they have moved up north near her brothers and sisters and they all help keep her accountable and take care of her. Being a pain pill addict affects everyone around you, and I know how hard it is to get over something like that...there are SO many people who would never dream of taking illegal drugs who have fallen into the pain pill trap. You CAN do it, withdrawal can be painful but you are not alone, we will always be here to support you! I did it with crystal meth, stayed in bed for about 3 months straight...it sucks but your life will be SO much better when you don't feel chemically dependant!

BreakfastSurreal~~Sorry to hear about your MIL. But thanks for your support and sharing your story! It is definately not fun at all. And it gets a bit fustrating at times.......in my family, a number of us go to the pain clinic for different reasons. So its like, one person runs out from taking too many, so they borrow from someone else until their refill, then that person will borrow, and so on and so on. And it gets to where it totally consumes your days. Especially if your running short and have to run all over town to make sure you get enough to last until the refill, or dr's appt. And if you do run out, then your in literal **** until you get some. So to avoid that physical pain from detox, you'd spend whatever to get them. I'm hoping I can control this.......Dr's say My ankles will never get better, only worse until I get joint replacement. Which im too young.....so the only other option are pills and injections. I was totally out of control with the pills, but feel so much better now that I have cut down. Youre right, it is hard but I know i can do it. and im so thankful that i have you guys here!
I'm glad to hear you kicked your meth addiction! :nod You must feel so much better! I think I saw a post of yours about this, I will have to stop in there! Thanks a bunch!!!! :hug~~Snowlily~~

good morning breakfast and snow! i like those two names together!
hey i am really glad that someone else came along in here. not that i can't say encouraging things to you snow, you know i love you, but theres nothing like having a bud right there beside you that can relate because they know what you're talking about.
thanks for the story, bfast. speaking of that, i need some! lol
snow, i got another queston for you and i have seen you mention this before, but why are you too young to have an ankle replacement? in your mind your too young or are the doctors saying this? go along with my feeble mind on this for a sec. a person may only be 40 or 45 but perhaps their body has not been healthy for one reason or another and their body is more that of a 67 year old. would they not be "old" enough to get a knee or hip replacement? see, i am thinking if your ankles are bad what difference does it make how old you really are?

It's the Doctors that say this. I'm for whatever kills the pain, however they say I really need to put it off as its for the best. The Orthopedic specialist says that there is a new one out for the ankle that makes it more like a real ankle and then there the only where you cant bend your ankles.......something like that..........He has said he wont do anything until they completely give out. I tried walking without bending my ankles (since it is both ankles) and it was too dawg on hard......LOL! I dont think its possible without me killing myself.......LOL!~~Snowlily~~

snow, i got a thunderstorm approaching .....for real so i will make this quick........
have you try high topped tennis shoes by chance? somthing to give the ankle a bit more support? i really don't know if that is something that would impact your problem or not.
girl you can't go without bending your ankles! do you mean to tell me that if they "fix" you, it means no bending of the ankles? unless of course they do what this other doctor is talking about.
wow, the things i am learning!
storm approaches! got to post it in my journal then i am off of here. can't hostess with a burnt up computer!

don't be sorry and make no excuses. we are all a bit busy and to be truthful i should have been in here sooner to see how your were progressing. if things are pretty much the same that's okay for now. at least you are not hitting the pill bottle more.

i was telling jack of you problem the other night. we tried to walk w/o bending our ankles. no fun.
