  • Food Addiction

    Hi-
I am glad to see an Over coming addictions board here. Thats wonderful! I guess we can be addicted to anything. I am an alcoholic and a drug addict. In 12 step recovery program...Thank God! But now my new addiction is food! I gained about 25 pounds and so want to take it off! I tried weight watchers and it was pain staking! I was hungry and used all my points usually before dinner time. It just wasn't working for me.

I've been on Atkins for a week. I just found this site and read some of the posts. Found out that I should't be eating atkins packaged treats, not in the first two weeks at least. I don't have the book, I've just been keeping to under 10 carbs a day and no sugar. I've lost about 3 pounds.

Are there any chat rooms or any way to get to know some of you guys?
    Thanks for listening!

Welcome! Keep lurking and go to the FAQ section if you have a question. Please make sure you get yourself a copy of the 2002 DANDR even if you have to borrow it from the library. As far as getting to know us, most of us have journals here - you can start your own in Journal Chats. If you want to keep track of your progess just post it in Journal Stats. Feel free to PM any one of us at any time by going to User CP and ask whatever you feel comfortable asking .

      Re: Food Addiction

we have a chat room but many folk can't get padst the firewall from work to it.

If you have questions ask in the induction forums we have the food lists I hopew you have been eating your 3 cups of acceptable low glycimic veggies in that 10 net carb total.

Addictions are tough to concure and foods minic many of the neurotransmitters and our Dr Brain has a very good filing caninet so it knows what foods effect you how and will prescribe them with no regard for weight loss just to make you feel better. bet you have been eating a lot of chocolate, caffein, and starches ecently.

try to avoid the fod cravings. you will discover that exercise is your new best friend cause you can get addicted to the brain chems it produces too.

Hang in there and congrats on the great steps you are taking to lose your weight and overcome your drug and alcohol addictions.
their is a 12 step food addiction plan Over Eaters has they call them the grey papers if you goole search for them.
