  • I haven't smoked for 2 days!

This wasn't a planned thing...I just...didn't smoke yesterday, and today I'm trying to see if I can keep it going. I'm so motivated by the other positive changes I've been making that I really want to do this....

BUT (isn't there always a but?)

I have been SOOOOO Crabby! I swear I could bite someones head off!

    GRAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's practically all I've been thinking about all day!

I just need to focus my attention elsewhere....(humming)...work, crochet, tv...this is going to be harder than I thought...

IF I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH TODAY...I CAN DEFINITELY MAKE IT THROUGH TOMORROW!!!

Any words of wisdom or inspiration?

Drink Drink Drink Water that is. It will help flush and it gives you a hand to mouth action. Keep up the great job.

Don't smoke your cigarettes. Eat them. I hear they are low carb.

OK, probably not a good idea. I had a friend in middle school who was caught smoking by her mom. Her mom made her eat cigarettes as a punishment, and she never tried to smoke again.

Ok, ignore that too. Let me just say congrats on not smoking for 2 days. You are an incredibly strong, determined woman, and you can get through this! You have the power.

                Re: I haven't smoked for 2 days!

Congratulations!!!! It only takes 72 hours for the nicotine to be completely out of your system and be over the physical detox from the chemicals. You're almost there. Just stick through it and stay busy. Drink PLENTY of water. You are crabby because of low blood sugar. One of the chemicals in the cigs cause your liver to release glucose into your blood stream. So even though you haven't been eating carbs, you've still been getting glucose because of the cigarettes. At this point, the irritability can be from low blood sugar. Be sure to eat as high of carb count veggies as you can and still stay within your daily limits. Be sure to spread them out over the day too. My theory is that may help.

It only takes 2 weeks to be free from the mental/habit addiction. I.e what to do with your hands, the urge to smoke when driving, when you first wake up, when you finish something...etc. Be aware of all the times that you crave, but find something else to do. After two weeks, you'll find that these urges subside too.

Don't you mean "butt", as in cigarette butt? No buts, keep it going, it's very impressive. And, how are you this evening?

Sillygirl, No pun intended, I actually missed that one even in there...lol! Thanks for the shot of encouragement...I'll probably need a few more before I fully make it through this one...Tim's dad smoked for a lot of years (he's pro'ly been quit for 13) and he said he still gets urges from time to time. He quit cold turkey. I haven't gotten any smoking cessation aides as of yet, but my company reimburses for up to $50 if I decide to...I may take them up on the patch for a month.

I am well, thank you very much for asking, and how are you this fine weathered evening? LOL...

Honestly, Just glad, glad, glad...to be home from work. Long story...wouldn't tell it if my fingers had the inkling to.
