  • *EASY WAY TO STOP SMOKING* Allen Carrs Book

    Hi Folks, :wave

To all of you who recommended "The easy way to stop smoking" by Allan Carr I just want to say thank you.

Giving up smoking has been incredibly hard for me, I was a hard core 3 pack a day smoker for 25 years and this past week has been murder....even with the Patch I've been chewing nicorette gum like mad (not recommended and dangerous!) and still climbing the walls.

This morning I picked up a copy of Allan Carrs book as well Dr. Atkins Vita Nutriant Solutions at Barnes and Nobel, came home and got a lot of reading in.

Anyway, Carrs book is definatley a unique approach to both quitting and understanding why we smoke in the first place, I finished the last page less than an hour ago - tossed the gum in garbage as well as the patch and no more Nicotine for me - ever

NRT (Nicotine replacement therapy) patches, gum...never 'felt" right to me to begin with they're all just different delivery systems for Nicotine the deadliest and most addictive drug there is. It reminds me of Americas flawed Methadone program for heroin addicts, we put heroin addicts on Methadone, but all Methadone is - is synthetic heroin. The addict remains an addict so instead of chasing his heroin he chases his methadone, it doesn't treat the illness nor does help the addict recover.
who benefits? the pharmaceutical companies - period.

Carr brings up some compelling insights - and to anyone out there struggling with trying to quit...before you blow $50 on the patches or gum, or hypnotherapy or anything else, pick up a copy of "The Easy Way To Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr, next to DANDR it's the best investment I've made in a very...very long time.

To all of you who recommended it to me - many heart felt thanks!

        Hi Goin2bgood, :wave

I have to say it really does help and I love your analogy as "The Dr. Atkins for Smokers!"

It's amazing to me, that without any medical training whatsoever and he certainly isn't what I would call a literary genius! But even Carr himself pokes fun at his writing style or lack there of!

But I've never experienced the entire complex, insidious disease of tobacco addiction so expertly explained and to see how really east it is to quit! I still can't believe it.

Even with two patches and chewing the gum I was climbing the walls...I really felt I had taken on too much that losing the weight, exercising and quitting a three pack a day habit was impossible for me at this point. That's where I was before reading this book - this morning? no withdrawal pangs...no feeling of deprivation or punishment, just a real sense of joy at being smoke free and knowing that I 'll never pick up another one of those filthy, deadly things again!

I ordered it from Amazon two days ago, so should be here soon! I haven't had much trouble though, feeling pretty good actually. Can't wait to read the book that everyone raves about. I am so glad I've got this site for info, along with you good people, it's saved me.

              Hi Raven, :wave

You're doing great...once you read this book you'll have a brand new perspective..It's very strange but I feel liberated somehow,

I still have withdrawal pangs..sometimes their very bad ..But they don't worry me anymore in fact I kind of like them, not because I like to feel uncomfortable!! but because I know it means the monkey on my back is dying - each time he screams for a cigarette and punishes me for not giving him one - I make him a little weaker..and in a few days he'll be dead and buried.

And frankly after all the misery and health problems he's caused me ~ I'll be dancing on his grave!
