I would think the fact that you spit would make the cab count next to nothing. How about placing some of the tobacco on the ground and not risk the cancer. My boys bow hunt but I don't.

it wouldn't be the same if it was on the ground, Its hard to explain its a hunting addiction in a tree early morning got your calls got your scents and then you crack open a can its purly psychological I think the reason for the carb question is I don't know if sugar can chemicaly change and absorb into the blood stream directly from the gum like the nicotine does...

Yes, there are carbs in flavored chewing tobacco. The exact ingredients and amounts are protected as trade secrets. If you really need something to crack open and chew, I'll bet you can find some sugar-free gum so you can keep your tradition without risking your health.

        Ingredients of Smokeless (Spit) Tobacco:
        Nicotine:
Nicotine is a poisonous and highly addictive drug found in all tobacco products:
smokeless (spit) tobacco, cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco.

        Carcinogens:
Many cancer-producing chemicals have been identified in smokeless (spit) tobacco. Nitrosamines are the main carcinogens.

        Sweeteners:
Because tobacco has an unpleasant taste, some brands of smokeless tobacco are heavily sweetened with sugars, which promote tooth decay. Flavourings such as mint, licorice or cherry may be added to improve the taste.

        Abrasives:
Tobacco leaves contain gritty materials which wear down the surfaces of teeth. These materials also scratch the soft tissues in the mouth, allowing the nicotine and other chemicals to get directly into the blood system.

        Salt:
Flavouring salts found in smokeless (spit) tobacco contribute to abnormal blood pressure and kidney disease.

        Other Chemicals:
Hundreds of other chemicals can be found in tobacco which contribute to many health problems.

Please, no chewing tobacco. Traditions aside, that stuff is so dangerous to your health.

I never thought about the salt in it...no wonder BP was always up near huntign season I just wondered if it was the fact I was stressed at the big one that got away.... I haven't chewed since last hunting season I started atkins I just lost all drive for cigs,cigars,chew... Im just curious about it.. I want to find out about it though I am curious if its true they put fiberglass in it to cut your gums to absorb the chemicals. Anywho thanks for the information Elleth Faewen. Right now Im at an odd feeling I used to smoke and stuff but since I started atkins my urge to smoke/chew had decrease dramatically...I don't think I will have a problem next season styaing on atkins though, THANKS!!! :joy

I did some checking and could not find anything from a reputable source saying there was fiberglass in smokeless tobacco. There do seem to be a lot of those kind of rumors floating around. It doesn't need fiberglass to be bad for you, though.
