Hi Rhonda! :wave
Your feelings don't sound silly at all and in fact I can relate to them 110%.
I agonized over quitting my smoking and there were moments of great sadness, grief and anxiety. I began a process of saying good-bye, literally to cigarettes that included writing a letter of good-bye one which I hand wrote and have buried somewhere on my desk and one which I posted in this Forum - it's a cathartic thing to do.
I was three days into my quit when I first began to read Allen Carrs book, I had a Nicoderm patch on each arm and I was chewing Niccorette gum like a madman!
By the middle of the book, all of a sudden I just felt calm and much stronger, pulled the patches off and threw them all along with the gum into the garbage.
I'm still unclear as to why the book is so effective, but when you're done reading it I would love to discuss it with you and hear what you thought of it.
I know you feel afraid and anxious - but I can assure you at no time in the book are you asked to quit smoking, preached to, yelled at, there are no scare tactics, stories of people with lung cancer or other insults to the smokers intelligence.
In fact you can smoke all you want while you read!
I really am proud of you for taking this step and believe me from one die hard smoker to the other, I totally understand your feelings - because I've experienced the same ones, maybe they were different in some ways who knows? But the process of deciding to quit was awful and I was an emotional wreck in every respect.
However once I realized that I had indeed stopped smoking it's been so easy - easier than I would have ever thought and I know it'll be the same for you too.
Hang in there kiddo!!!
