The 5 of is all agreed to give something up? Time to fess up and tell us how you are doing!
I found its not the caffine I am addicted to but the AM routine that involves the coffee. I now do decaf cause I am not ready to give up the coffee but caffine can be gone.

    Can I join in please?

I am pledging to give up Peanuts!

Bad naughty things that they are! I work in the evenings in a pub / bar and they are readily available to me.

I am not going to have them anymore!

Richt I added your name to the topic. You will do a great job. I know how hard it will be with them staring you in the face daily!

Honey, I haven't given up Diet Coke yet fully. Boo for me!

I will do it, but now that I'm moving, I need the three-o-clock pick-me-up or else I'm in bed sleeping whileI need to be doing other things.

Good news is I've cut back, am drinking more water and less caffeine. I'll cut the stuff out entirely through weaning myself. I just can't afford a few days sleeping off headaches.

        *lol*

I've just got back from the pub, and I managed to go the shift without any.

My lovely landlady boss did offer me a packet, but I refused. (In a nice way).

good luck with the diet coke, the coffee and the nail biting. Lauren, Cleo and Origam!

                      Hi Lauren, :wave

I hope no one minds my chiming in - this is my favorite Forum/topic so I can't resist when I see a new post.

First I congratulate all of you on breaking your addictions and habits that may have held you back, disrupted your weight loss or had the potential to undermine your success, so that said BRAVO! :clapping :clapping :clapping

For me my challenge remains staying smoke free, BTW, Lauren and all of you folks who posted so much encouragement - a genuine thank you! it helps, it really does.

                      Now Miss Cleo!

Weaning yourself off, cutting down, reducing intake on your own is really the worst way to go. People who succeed using this type of logic, succeed not because of their "weaning off" program but in spite of it.

If you want to stop using caffeine - then you have to make like Nike and Just do it.

What might work best for you is to plan your quit date allowing yourself a day or two after where you don't have anything really critical to do meetings/projects at work, long drives etc etc etc.

Caffeine, like Nicotine although very different have ridiculously short half lives (they're out of our system in 72 hours) it's the psychological part that makes it difficult.

Like Lauren said, it's the routine you've built around it. Which are really just the rituals we create so we can indulge in something we know is bad for us.

Withdrawal pangs are so minimal with caffeine and nicotine that a person can sleep through the night without awakening from them - thats how slight they are. So Pick a quit and quit - that's it, all there is to it. It won't be anywhere near as difficult as you think.

You've been on Atkins long enough to know those stalls can hit you for months at a time - you've also had remarkable success, why risk anything? You've come so far.

I say ditch the soda it's not nearly as hard as you might believe and you'll feel so much better for it - I promise.

                      Sorry for budging in!

                      Peter ha

I'll do it when I'm ready. Until then, I'll discuss the issue no longer. Promise!

                        Thanks guys {{{Peter}}}

                            Weekend was very good thanks.

I worked 4 shifts, covering about 16 hours and stayed away from the nuts. (I cant be addicted really)

                            How was your weekend?

It was great Rich, thanks for asking. It was my first day off in 47 days so my butt sat on the couch all day with the lap top.

I give you a lot of credit Rich. I don't think I could stay away feom the nuts on a bar in front of me. Even after 10 months if I see a favorite food in front of me I still want it in my mouth.
