  • New to Board

I am new to this board. I started Atkins 10 days ago, but was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. The doctors told me that if I could loose 60 to 70 lbs, there's a good chance I maybe able to get off all this medication I am currently taking for the side effects of PCOS.

That is what made me decide to start Atkins, hey anything to get off this medication.

Well I have lost 8lbs to date and I can't wait until I have reached my first goal of 20lbs.

Welcome to ADBB. Congrats on your great start.
Doing a low carb plan will help you control the insulin interferrence with your female hormone production and greatly assist you with many of the symptoms of your PCOS.

You may want to have your doc check your med levels after you have been doing your atkins for a few weeks if you are on any insulin meds as they plus Atkins can drop your blood sugars too low.

      Happy low carbing

        Re: New to Board

My enodocrinologist knows I have started Atkins, he did blood work before I started, and he will be doing blood work again in September. He says that he will check my blood work every two months, as long as I am on Atkins just to make sure everything is ok. As of today, I have finished my 2 week induction and have lost 10lbs and 7.5 inches. I am so surprised. I am going to stay on extened induction until I break that 200lb mark.

I sure hope this works, it's really my last shot of stopping myself from getting diabeties.

          Hey Susan!

I was just checking in to see how your two month check-up was...did the dr take you off any meds?
