is PCOS something that would be detected by a regulr pap?
If your pap results come back abnormal is htat when you get tested from PCOS?
Do women who have had abortions have a higher risk of getting PCOS?

    Thanks!

    Re: diagnoses?

I don't think it can be detected by a papsmear. I was diagnoised after having lab work done, and having symptoms of it like, hirtuism, bleeding all month long, weight gain, fatigue, skin tags, retention of fluid, urinary incontinence. It took 2 years for me to be diagnosed because of not having cyst on my ovaries. But I am glad I am doing the low carb thing, I have been feeling much better since I started.

        Re: diagnoses?

Mine was detected doing lab work while trying to become pregnant. It has to do with the FSH number and another number which I no longer know the name of. As said in the above post you can have PCOS without the cysts...myself too...but carry other symptoms, again like metioned above or irregular periods. I went from March to Sept without once having my period while trying to concieve. I would go in weekly for a pregnancy test and of course no baby...but no period either. It was very frustrating.

If you have a lot of the symptoms...I would suggest you talk to your doctor about your concerns and ask him if it is possible to have a test done to see if you have it. My experience is that it is not high on the radar for family doctors to diagnose so go in there and ask about it specifically.

        Good luck!
