Hello everyone! I have been struggling with my weight for most of my life (31 yrs) and was diagn. w/pcos at 25 yrs old. I believe the aktins diet is going to be the only hope for weightloss. I have not started yet, but hopefully tomorrow. I had a lot of fun reading some your post. Please, feel free to give me any advice! Hopefully, my weight will show with my signature. Wish me luck ladies. Here goes!!!!!

Glad you found your way to us! If you have not bought your copy of the 2002 Diet Revolution book, make sure to put it on your list. We have great info handy here at the FAQ pages, but you still need the book. Go to the FAQ pages to print out the Induction foods, and the Induction rules, you will see those topics at the bottom of the FAQ forum page. Plan on eating only what you see on that list!

Atkins is highly recommended for PCOS and you will have company here, a few others are dealing with it.

    Good luck!

HI! PCOS'er here....have you read my post with replies "Calling All PcoSisters.." It is in this forum, but might be a couple of pages back by now. It gives alot of information. I was diagnosed when 26 years old...but I don't want to go into it all again here since it is in the above mentioned topic. For many, Atkins does seem to help. I'm still waiting to regulate, since I only started 3 1/2 weeks ago. Welcome to the ADBB...this is a great place to be. Good luck.

        Hi

I am new here, not new to Atkins though..I too have PCOS and would love to chat with a mom that has it. It seems like most of the women I have talked to that have it can't get pregnant? I am wondering, do I really have it? I have 2 boys and didn't have a problem getting preg. I have approx 11 periods a year and lots of ovary pain and gain weight around the middle...

Please feel free to email me, I would love a low carb buddy and one with PCOS would even be better!

Hi...Once again, I would suggest reading "Calling all PCOSisters" which is an earlier post in this forum. There are several other PCO mothers there besides myself. I didn't have too hard a time conceiving my son when I weighed 175, when I was having cycles about 7-12 times a year, but after I had him, I'm lucky to have 1 - 2 real cycles a year. I have not been able to conceive since then. It really differs from woman to woman. There are other illnesses that cause cystic ovaries, obesity being one of them, hyperinsulinism being another. I think in your case, since it is proven you could conceive, that you may have a very mild version of PCO, and could probably get it completely under control with this diet. Hope this helps. If you want to chat, go ahead and PM me. I enjoy chatting, and am a PCO mom.

I don't have PCOS, but my sister-in-law has been suffering with it for years. From what I've seen her go through, I can truly sympathize with you ladies. She's an amazing woman -- finally went through arificial insemination to get pregnant, and she's due any time now.

Hi there, :wave I have PCOS too. I am 5'2 and right now 241lbs. Atkins has been the only diet that has worked for me, because of the insulin resistance.

I had such a hard time getting pregnant, I was on all kinds of pills like clomid and metformin, and then I decided to stop all meds and do Atkins to get my weight in order. Well, 3 mos into it I ended up pregnant and had a pregnancy that required no meds! :joy Atkins is the greatest diet! Im about 6 weeks into Atkins again, I took 1 year off the low carb life to breastfeed my son, as low carbs contribute to a lower milk supply, and with PCOS, mine is already low.. :no

If you want to chat or anything email me! Welcome to the board! Im new, myself! :geek

Not all women with PCOS have the same symptoms. If you think you have PCOS, I really suggest you go to your gyn. or make an appointment with an endocrinologist to find out if you have it or not.
