  • Members with PCOS please click here. :)

Just curious about all the members who have been disagnosed with PCOS and where they are on the plan and if anyone has ever hit goal.

I'm two months and two weeks cheat free and wanted to see what to expect as I go along with this WOE.

Do the PCOS symptoms eventually go away?

Will we always lose weight slower than the average person or does it speed up to normal the more weight we lose?

Just curious about your experiences and how long you've been on the program.

That is a good question...I wish I could give you a good answer, but I'm exactly 100 pounds from my goal Good to say that, instead of 129 pounds!

Anyway, I hope someone has gone through this and noticed a change...that's what I am really looking forward to!

I would also love to know. I'm on week 8 of healthy eating and exercising. I finally had a period after 3 month and before that several months. I was on week 4 of low carbing when i my period. I should start around the 27th of Sept. and i already started getting cramps this week. I will be so happy if my period comes for the 2nd month in a row. I've noticed my underarms look lighter in color. I still have facial hair that doesnt look any better. If we lose the weight and stay healthy can we completely be free of pcos? I would love to hear from those who have pcos and have been Low carbing for at least a year.

BTW- my Family Dr. complimented me for losing weight. She acknowledge losing weight for pcos suffers is difficult. I was totally shocked. She wasnt the one that diagnosed me my OB-gyn did. I go back in one month and hope to lose more by then

            Hi

I'll be doing Atkins for 6 weeks tomorrow and I am happy with the results thus far.

After the first 2 weeks my acne started clearing up, only when I had a cheat day about 3 weeks ago I had a few pimples the day after. Also I had my shortest cycle ever. 43 days!!! Which was a 1st for me.

I am seeing my FS again tomorrow and I'll also be doing new bloodtests. So I hope to have good news for you all. I really think my testosterone levels will be lower, and I do hope I have less cycts on my ovaries. But then I'll tell you if atkins made a really big difference in 6 weeks. I am sure it has.

Goodluck with Atkins, so far it's done wonders for me.

            Cheers

After about a month or so of Atkins, my cycle started back. I've had a regular one now for the past 4 months when before I had an irregular one every 6-7 months or so. I'm hating the actual irritation of being regular, but love what it's doing for my body!
Back in Induction again...fell off the wagon...Atkins was great though...I dropped down to 187...the lowest I've been in several years!

The last time I did Atkins, my acne cleared up, there was a significant reduction in facial hair, and I definitely lost weight. My periods were regular already because of the pills and I'm not trying to get pregnant, so not sure about those. I was still losing some hair, though. This time, we'll just have to see. I just started induction again...

Re: Members with PCOS please click here.

I just restarted Atkins on 10/11 after a 2 month fall off the wagon. I'm on the pill so my periods continued as usual. But I have acne roseca and that came back after a week of being off the plan. I've tried every type of cleanser and medication on my face but nothing works. The Atkins plan clears up my face and really diminshes the redness. I don't have to embarrased by my face anymore. That alone is reason enough for me to stay on Atkins.

Hi girls! I'm new (I will be starting day 5 of induction tomorrow) and I have PCOS. Doctors tell me that YES we can reach our goal weights, it is not IMPOSSIBLE, and yes it may be more difficult for some PCOSers (not all). I have a friend who lost 40lbs and is now a smokin hot bikini babe. (honestly, she could be a model!) Anyway good luck to you all!

Ok.. So I have just started up Atkins again.. but I can give my experiences last year... I lost really well.. started at about 200 pounds and in 5 months had gotten down to 160 or so. I felt super good. Most of my PCOS symptoms were gone/or under complete control. I began having a regular cycle.. and went off of metformin and still felt that things were under control. In fact, I got pregnant ( which I was told I would most likely not be able to do again.) Which is why I then left the plan. Now little one is two months old ( and I cant bf her) so I am back on plan to make sure that I can get that healthy again! So.. even though I wasnt on plan a very long time.. I really think that it helped A LOT. I also have no doubt that I can lose the weight, and before I seriously doubted that I could, because no matter how much I excerised or anything, it didnt seem to budge. Atkins is the only lifestyle that seems to regulate the hormoes and the insulin/sugar issues.
