  • Newbie, I too have PCOS

    Hi everyone

I too have PCOS and have been struggling with this for 5 years. I have every symptom and I'm hoping that going on the Atkins will help. I came off the pill in 2001 and never got a period. I was always irregular, started at 13, but only got 1 every few months so the doc suggested putting me on the pill at 15 to regulate my cycle. I have went on and off the pill over the last few years but I still only get a period when I'm on the pill

So I'm now off it and am hoping that The Atkins can straighten out my body (in more ways than one) I am hoping to have family in the future and would be devastated to find I couldn't due to this condition. I have seen the cysts on the ultrasound and see they are very small, the doc thinks if I lose the weight my symptoms may disappear and my period may return

I was put on Metformin several years ago, but it did nothing for me so was taken off it. They then put me on Orlistat to lose some weight, but I couldn't put up with the stomach cramps so took myself off it.

I'm encouraged by the posts I've read here so I hope I too can shortly post I'm also in the club .

    Thanks

Re: Newbie, I too have PCOS

    Welcome Summer-Caitlin!

I'm here with you and am going through some of the same things. This is the way to go to get all these symptoms straightened out since (from what I've read) PCOS is due to insulin resistance.

If you have any questions on getting around the board or searching for something, let me know and I'll try to help.

I'll be looking forward to reading your posts and seeing you here.

Again, welcome to the ADBB family!
