I'm going to be starting Atkins on Sun (have to go grocery shopping LOL) Was anyone able to go off Met after being on Atkins? My mother is going to do it with me. I've done it before & lost 40 lbs, but found it too difficult to stay on. I'm going to try harder this time. Hope to get to know you all!

Re: New here too
Let's see I'm 33, I have a beautiful dd who is 3. I live in middle TN. My highest weight was 330. I lost 110lbs on WW, got pg & gained 80 lbs & haven't taken it off. My ultimate goal is to get down to 130, but right now, I'm just trying to get to pre-pg weight. My dh & I are actually ttc right now. With the PCOS I'm not sure how easily that's going to happen w/all the extra weight. So, I'm going to lose weight while ttc. I'm actually pretty nervous about doing this, because I'm a HUGE carb addict. Anyway, I look forward to getting know everyone

Re: New here too
Nice to meet you!
I'm your neighbor! I live in South Central Tennessee -- about an hour south of Nashville.
BTW, what name do you like to go by? My name is Kathleen and I go by Kat.
This is the way to go if you want to break that carb addiction. Like you said before, just take it a day at a time and before you know it a week will have gone by, then a month, several months, etc.
Glad to have you aboard!

Re: New here too
Do you get plenty of snow there? In four years we've only got about an inch or two and that was February 2002. We'd like to move somewhere where we will actually have snow to go outside and play in (with our doggies).
I'm from Louisiana and always thought we'd get snow if we moved further north, like TN, but so far I was wrong.~Kat

Re: New here too
Your daughter is so cute and looks like she's having such fun! See...that's what I want to do too!!
(giggle)
So, just 30 minutes north of Nashville and we could have snow like that? Woo Hoo!
My DH was considering Marysville for the university and all the hiking trails they have in that area. Ever been there?~Kat

Re: New here too
BTW, I'm glad you liked the recipes. Linda, another low-carber, created that site and she has done a fantastic job! I use a lot of her recipes too.
I love her Spinach Lasagna, Deep Dish Pizza, Taco Salad, ... there are so many!
My husband is loving the food this time because I'm experimenting more with recipes also.
A new thing I tried is baking a chicken breast (w/salt, pepper, garlic/onion powder) then when it is done adding a piece of bacon (cooked) and a slice of provolone cheese on top and letting it melt. Yum!
I also have some pre-set meal nights -- like Monday is Fish night and I bake fish (Tilipia w/Old Bay) and have fresh veggies with it. Tuesday is usually chicken. Wednesday is Beef. Thursday is open. Friday is our Deep Dish Pizza. Weekends are free.
I also bake a bag of chicken breast (about six) on the weekends and cut them up and put them in the freezer for lunch during the week. My DH and I take our lunches to work and we both like it better than the canned. He takes some Jalapeno cheese for a snack and a few pork rinds. I'm further up the rungs and usually have a snack/mini-meal of nuts. I also dip my chicken in the SouthBeach Ranch Dressing. It is the only one I found without sugar in the ingredients.
I am on the berries rung so I make my flax muffins with blueberries and just love it! My DH hasn't progressed that far and he has his plain with butter. They are great either way and remind us of a bran muffin.
What type of food plans do you have so far since you are just starting?~Kat

Re: New here too
I think I'm going to go directly from the recipe site & see what happens. I think once I get a better hand of what I'm doing & such I'll start trying to "plan" my own thing. LOL No, dh isn't heavy. He could stand to lose about 20lbs probably, but he said he doesn't want the stress. LOL But, he'll be eating what I eat for dinner.

If you would like, please start a journal here: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31
That way you can post how your day goes, what you eat, how you felt...or basically anything you want to post about. Other members can then pop in and "visit" you and you will get to know so many more people. You can also go to this same link and visit other members' journals.
Everyone here wants you to succeed and will help with any questions you might have.
