If you have PCOS then your doc has explaned how the insulin reisitance is causeing a rise in your Androgen (the male sex hormones all ladies have in a small amount when normal.) and a decrease in your estrogen levels as a results. The low carbing assists in helping you to control the insulin flow and as a result your tissues becoame resensitized to it and the andro goes down the estro goes up and the symptoms get better. This is why they prescribe glucophage too as that will sensitize your cells to the insulin too. Low carbing isn't a cure only a control for PCOS.

Honestly aside for infertility this problem was never talked about with my regular doctor. Of course 15 years ago not enough was known on this.
Perhaps I should discuss this problem with my regular doctor. You think being on a med will help me loose better. Sicne having the baby i have gained my wiegh back and having trouble looseing it this time.

if you are insulin resistant and your Atkins hasn't cured it metaforin (glucophage) is the treatment of choice for increasing the cells senstivity to insulin.

Yep talk with your doc he will run a bunch of tests and see if you are.

Don't forget as you age other body systems change too and your metabolism can slow down. You can speed it up with more muscle tissue and we all know how you get that. Exercise will assist you greatly with slow metabolism but not PCOS. :sadblinky
