  • Venting About Recent Dr. Advice

Hello everyone...I just went to a chiropractor/ homeopatic doctor the other day, and for the first time, the guy really seemed to know what he was talking about when it came to PCO. I couldn't help tearing up, as he explained how PCOS is related to all the hormones being off, and progesterone in particular being low, etc. etc. He also showed a connection between PCOS and low thyroid function. It all made so much sense. He said he could help me and had helped this other girl, and she since had two children, when before she couldn't even conceive. But first he had to clean up my liver, which was very toxic. He used some weird homeopathic test to find that out. All happy I went up to the front desk to pay, and pick up my remedy, and there were three BIG bottles of some vitamen blends, and this whole new diet plan. It had shakes I was supposed to mix with fruits, huge amounts of vitamens for each meal, and something about having to eat beets every day!! :vomit I went that route with SHAKLEE and ended up having hypoglecimic attacks from it, and only lost the initial water weight before I started gaining again. I felt so dejected...especially after finding out it cost $173 for three weeks on top of the $60 visit charge, and I had to go grocery shopping on top of it. I told him I was doing Atkins, and that it had helped me lose 70 pounds already, but he said that was too hard on my kidneys and liver! GIVE ME A BREAK!!! I have nothing against vitamens, but I can't stand it when people try to say "their's is the only one that works" and "anyone not doing this can't be healthy". I just felt like I was being scammed again! Am I crazy? Sorry for the long vent. Just feel a little frustrated. :raving

:hug :hug LOL do you need us to tell you how Atkins helps your PCOS and can assist you in getting preg if insulin resistance is a part of your PCOS? you already know that if you understand about insulin resistance in PCOS and how that interfers with the conversion of the androgen (all ladies produce) to estrogen each month and so your cycle doesn't progress.

Atkins low carb hepls you control your blood sugars and keep your insulin levels low allowing your cells to become sensative to insulin again and allow the androgen to be converted to estrogen because you no longer need so much insulin corsing through your body to process all those carbs you wwere eating before. The estrogen levels go up and your "male" physical symptoms go away with that androgen nol longer hanging around longer then it was suposed to. now you get TOM working again and lookout. Several folk who were told they wouldn't have kids because of hormonal issues are preg on the board now.

Eat your Atkins, drink your water, take your prenmatal vits cause you never know when it will happen and you only get one shot to get the early critical nervous system development right. Unless you have an actual physical blockage in your system from scarring or deformity in your uterus you can get preg.

Maribelle, thanks for a great inspirational post and sorry it cost so much to find out you were being led down the garden path so to speak.
We know Atkins works, its sad that so many folks are still suffering because they believe this nonsence doctors are dishing out.
