I know have a long ways to go for the glucose test, but I am worried about it. Have you had it yet? When you have to drink that sugary drink that tests for GB? Its been such a long time, way over a year, that I have had real sugar sugar, and I am afraid it will mess with my blood sugar and make me sick, like pass out or something.

Do you think I am just overly concerned?

Nope I have the exact same concerns.

I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy so my chances of having it with this baby is increased. Today at my fifth month appointment, my doctor went ahead and tested my blood sugar to see if I was ok. I was normal! THANK GOODNESS! Since I came up normal, they will do the GTT at 28 weeks when I have my RH screening (I am RH negative so I have Rhogam shots).

The GTT bothers me since I have not had refined sugar or white flour in over a year. I asked 2big about it and she said that there is a diet I need to follow for about a week before the test, so I don't get a false positive. It makes sense since I haven't had refined sugar, and I will be flooding my body with it in another couple months. I will try and find the link for the diet for you. You actually up your carbs and add bread to your diet, which will totally suck and I'm sure I will have "carb sickness" from it. I do plan on asking my doctor first though to see if there is something else we can do. I did have one person tell me that they were able to do just the fasting GTT and didn't have to drink the stuff. There is also the jelly bean test where you eat jelly beans instead of drinking the stuff, but it's still flooding your body with refined sugar.

I am insulin resistant, so I honestly don't think I will pass the GTT. I do know that I WILL NOT follow the American Diabetic dietic but will continue with Atkins Maintenance since it is keeping my blood sugars under control. I'm hoping with diet and exercise I will be able to maintain my sugar levels without adding insulin.

Also, do some research on B6 and Insulin Resistance and ask your doctor about it. There's been some studies showing that B6 helps with Insulin Resistance. So that way if you are concerned about it the B6 may help. Also EXERCISE is essential for helping with Insulin Resistance.

    I hope this helps.
