  • Help! Post partum and not losing!!

Hello everyone.. and congrats to you who are expecting or have new little ones!

My baby will be 2 months old tomorrow. I was pumping for about 6 weeks, then I burned up two pumps and decided to hang it up.. since I also went back to work AND was not losing any weight because of breastfeeding!

I just started atkins again, and only lost 4 pounds on induction. What the ??? In the past I have always lost around 6-10 during that time.. and I was more strict with myself this time than any other! So what's the deal, has this happened to anyone else? I will be on for three weeks Tuesday. The scale has not moved since my first week.

I also went back on birth control tho.. the patch. So that is all I can think of that could be stalling me out, and I also seem to be retaining water.

THIS SUCKS!! I want it off now, lol!

I would say all the changes your body is going through is the result of your slower weight loss. The change from no longer breast feeding plus going on birth control has to affect your body chemistry. I would say to hang in there, keep drinking lots of water and in time you should see the results.

Hi, I am having the same problem. My baby will be 7 weeks tomorrow and I am having trouble losing even though I am a lot more strict this time. I even cut out the ketchup this time. Last year when I was doing this WOE I lost 8 lbs in the first two weeks and I still drank diet cokes and used ketchup a lot. I think it may just be our bodies are having a harder time adjusting to all the changes at once.

        Thank you Dawn and Brooke!

Brooke, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Just like you, I even cut out the ketchup, LOL! (Only I did buy the new low carb kind just yesterday, it's good!) And I haven't been eating the sugar free chocolates like last year.

Dawn I think you have a good point, since I just dried up my milk there is no energy going to that production anymore..
And yes, my body is definately out of wack!

My husband is actually doing it with me this time and has been very strict, which has helped me a great deal.

        Off to drink more water!

Aw Brooke what a doll! Hmm.. don't know why pics would be blurry.. on the slideroll? Oh well, they're outdated anyway and I just can't find the time to edit all my pics and load em!

Yes, definately easier with the hub! Were you on atkins while pregnant? I swore I was going to 'try' to 'kinda' stay on and not eat a bunch of sugar and chips. But oh I felt so sick that the first thing I went for was a box of Cheezits! It was all down hill after that. I went from 142 to 212+ :sadblinky

Way to go on your losses lasses.. keep it up! :icondance

I didn't eat a lot of sugar while I was pregnant but I ate a lot of fruit and spaghetti, which is funny because I normally don't even like pasta, I guess it was just a craving. Now I can't even stand the thought of it again.
              Funny how that happens

                I was just thinking...

Since breastmilk is so sugary, and since I assume the milk has to be 'consumed' by my body somehow.. maybe that is why I'm stalling while drying up?

If I don't start losing soon I may consider going off this new birth control! I will give it a month and see..
