  • Nursing a 6mth old and beginning Atkins today.

I am 36 and the mother of 6 children. My name is Christy and I live in Georgia. I am serious about losing this last 25 to 28 pounds. My husband started today with me. I walked 40 minutes this morning and I will continue doing this. My husband does this diet all of the time to maintain his weight, but now he wants to lose the excess too. I am breastfeeding and would love to know of others who are bfeeding and doing this diet. Is it bad to do the induction when bfeeding?

    Thanks,
    Christy

    Hi Christy!

From what I understand you should not be in induction and breastfeed at the same time. You can do "maintenance" in Atkins. When breastfeeding or while pregnant, your body and the baby needs extra nourishment and extra calories. I would advise to keep exercising, go into Atkins maintenance and when you wean the baby then move to induction. Hope this helps some.

First of all i wanna say Welcome to Atkins and Welcome to the boards...

Also I agree with Dawn, the extra nourishment while breastfeeding is so so very important for your baby and you...Please pick up yourself a copy of DANDR and read the parts concerning pregnancy and breastfeeding... As soon as baby is weaned you can go on induction with no problems....

      Nice to meet you...
