My husband and I are planning on trying for a second child now. I realize that it may take a while for me to get pregnant, but I still have a lot more weight to lose. I was going back and forth on whether I should lose the weight first before trying, but I decided that was a bad idea. I just turned 30 and my husband just turned 39. My daughter is 4 years old and I think it's past time she had a brother or sister.
My question is - why is it so bad to continue to do Atkins when a person becomes pregnant? I wasn't doing Atkins when I was pregnant with my daughter and I did eat unhealthy most of the time. I tried to make sure I had my veggies and forced myself to drink milk (I hate plain milk), but I actually think I'm eating healthier now than I was when I had her. I also ALWAYS took my prenatal vitamins.
I know that people shouldn't diet when pregnant, but I also don't want to gain 50 pounds again like I did with my daughter. My face was so swollen by the time I had my daughter, people were starting to worry.
I was just curious as to the reasoning behind it.
