Re: My worst fear confirmed
First thing you must do is get out of Ketosis. You can still follow Atkins and eat lo carb but the Maintinance diet. AS for your feelings about the pregnancy, give it a little time. The shock of finding out you are pregnant will wear off and you may have a different opinion.~Lauren~

Re: My worst fear confirmed
actually you don't want out of Dr Atkins ketosis you want out of weight loss phases of Atkins becuase pregnant females bodies will decide the mother comes first when weight loss is occurring and not share cals nicely with the developing baby. the precusor building materials for baby brain tissues is ketones so let the baby have them all and move to the maintenance phase of Atkins.
You are going to have to decide for yourself what you are going to do about this. There are folk here with very very powerful emotions about both sides of the issue you have raiseed but in the end it is a personel desision you are going to have to make on your own. make a list of the pros and cons and see which you think is most valuble to you. then you will know what to do.
I hope you have seen your doc to be sure you and baby are healthy.
There is no reason why you can't do both. DAWN graduated while preggo and delivered a very healthy child.by the book atkinseer

Re: My worst fear confirmed
You recieved good advice, You can still go to school. I know many people who went to school while they were pregnant. Also you can continue after the baby is born. I went back to school for chemistry and kept my daughter in the daycare there. Get into the maint phase. Read in your book about pregnancy. Best wishes to you.........Dawn

Re: My worst fear confirmed
Hey, I never planned to have children myself and still have a hard time relating to them. I used to have nightmares about finding that I was pregnant. Then one day I got the stomach flu and just felt touchy for a few weeks after. I did the test when I found I was late and my blood ran cold. I decided right then and there not to get depressed or mad or upset about it because it was something I could not change. I never wanted kids but I have godly reverence so abortion was out for me. I couldn't dream of adoption as I am married and believe in taking care of my own. But I had no idea what I was going to do. Once my baby was born, I didn't immediately love her but I wouldn't let myself hate her because I had to change my plans. Within a few days I was hooked and she is the biggest blessing in my life - no regrets. Enjoy the baby as much as you can. It's hard to understand the preciousness until you have one.27 F 5' 7"

Re: My worst fear confirmed
((((((((HUGS))))))))))) I understand how your feeling, but we can't help you make a decision like that at all. You will decide what you need to do without our help. But until you make that decision, you need to think and eat healthy. You can still exercise while pregnant and you can still eat carefully. I have a Marine Corp Captain friend, who got pregnant and was into her uniforms less than a month after the baby was born. You don't need to gain a lot of weight, and you don't need to completely go off the plan.
