  • Haven't been here in a while...

Wow! The boards have really changed since the last time I was here.

I found out I was pregnant in October last year, and about two weeks after finding out, I left the boards to help curb my dieting. I'm five months along now, and have gained about 10 pounds since my BFP. Not too shabby.

I've been doing okay with eating. Mostly I've added more cheese, veggies, and nuts...oh, and low carb ice cream! :geek First 3 months the only thing I could eat that wouldn't make me absolutely sick was tangerines, so I'm really glad to just be eating real food. LOL!

Although now, anything and everything I eat gives me heartburn--no matter what it is. :P

Hi I'm pregnat too 4 months. I don't know about you but it was hard for me to get an eating isn't bad mentality. I really had to sit and lecture myself on what gaining weight would mean and the necessity of letting go of the fear of pounds.

      Congrats on your pregnancy!

That's exactly what I went through, Bratz. Right after learning I was pregnant, I would read about people's losses on here and feel really guilty about eating extra carbs. I had been very strict with my carbs before my BFP. So, I left for a while so I could get my bearings.

That they've added a pregnancy board is really a good idea, because it's not good to limit your carbs too much while pregnant... and I don't know about everyone else, but for me, eating foods with sugar alternatives such as sugar alcohols in them while pregnant can cause unnecessary tummy troubles. :sarcasm

I just have to look at it that I might gain a few extra pounds, but I am pregnant... it's completely normal and natural to gain a bit. Too, I got pregnant before I met my weight goal, so I plan go right back on Atkins once the baby's born. I'm sure the weight will melt right off with the combination of the diet and caring for a newborn. At least I'm hoping so!

congrats on doing so well with your preg sorry about the heartburn have yoiu discussed it with your doc?

Yep Dr Atkins tells you that weight loss is a no no for being preg and to move to the higher phase of Atkins eating your carbs above your CCLL and take care of you and baby. you got a life time to lose the weight but only one shot to get baby right. Take care and let us know howq you are doing.

Corrina, you are doing great! Five months and just 10 lbs sounds really good to me! Do you think it's OK to not have grains? I'm not criticizing, I really wonder if they include something vtal the baby needs? I am just 6 weeks pg, and I have added back in everything, just not all at the same time, same day, etc. Except sugar of course. So far so good.

Sorry about the heartburn. DS was terrible for that too. Milk helped some, or ice cream. Low low low saturated fats helped too, like NO butter, beef or cheese for several days, and I would get some relief until I ate them again. Kind of cnotradictory, I know, and have no idea of the explanation either, but thought I'd share.

Also, nursing burns like 500 calories extra a day at first! I couldn't believe it. It only takes 6-8 weeks for your body to get conditioned to what it needs, so if you can take advantage of those first few weeks, and eat really good, the pounds will come off in NO time.

Brats, I hear you, and hope you have found a balance with your food attitude
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

This is nice, to have other Atkins ladies who are pregnant to talk to!

Denise, I think there is something essential to do with whole grains and baby's development, but I'm not sure what it is. I have added a bowl of raisin bran to my breakfast, and sometimes I eat a sandwich. I have to be really careful with breads and grains though---I have a definite wheat allergy, and some lighter grains can haunt me as well. They make me itchy all over--arms, legs, scalp. :yikes I have to soak in baking soda if I over do it. LOL!

Not sure what it is with the heartburn, but plain or vanilla yoghurt seems to help it. And Tums. I went through this same thing with my first son. Had heart burn with him from 5 months to the end. Looks like it will be the same with this little nipper!

I didn't know that nursing burned so many calories! I had planned to give breastfeeding a try this go around, so we'll see how this works out.

I breastfed my daughter. Not my older two sons, I though DD would be the last so I'd give it a whirl. It was so much more convienent. In all honest, I have to admit she did get sick less than the other two and no spit up (or stains bm doesn't stain like formula). I wasn't careful though with the weight I took it as 500 extra burned meant eat anything and everything in site. hmmm math whiz....3 gazzilion minus 500 does not equal Calista Flockheart.

                  very very true lol....

I breastfed all of my kids, my son Joshua was stubborn and didnt last but a couple of months on the breast but its so worth it, not only do you feel so connected with your child, but yeah you do burn extra cals...AND you are reminded to drink extra water...more fluids = more milk.... :nod I cant wait till we all have baby reports to give lol....

                  Belly Pats to yall...
