      Thanks a bunch Low-carbing

The experience: (copied from my journal)

      Hello everyone!

Sorry for the mysterious disappearance over the past few days...I have truly been thru!. I had my appointment Wednesday, and all did not go well! The doctor decided that she'd send me to L & D so that they could do an U/S and check the baby's weight, reflexes/muscle tone, etc.... so, Grady and I leave the office and head across the street to the hospital (literally), only to be told almost 4 hrs later that we would not be going home They wouldn't let me leave, because apparently the baby scored low on the reflex test..only got a 2 out of a possible 8 points--so they were concerned that their was a problem with her muscle tone! I couldn't believe it! As much as she'd moved through this whole pregnancy, now she wants to get lazy. So they admitted me, and told me they were thinking about induction, because they needed to find out what was going on....I'm scared to death by now, but I agree because I know that's what's best for the little woman. So, I call my mother and let her know what's going on..she freaks out, and starts telephoning the world trying to get here....I was scheduled for overtime at work, so I called and took care of that--also let them know what was going on...need less to say the information I gave one of my supervisors got seriously doctored up and my co-workers started showing up at the hospital to visit because "THEY HAD HEARD" that I was rushed to the hospital, they found something wrong with the baby, and they were talking about taking her OMG! I swear those words never left my mouth....but that story sure as he11 sounded a lot juicier than mine. So anyway, I advise them, that I was never rushed anywhere, and no one is taking the baby. By then, I was extremely frustrated, I wanted to go home, and I was too ready for the day to be over. Then, on top of all that....like I didn't have enough on my plate....the nurses and doctors all seemed to be in fast forward mode, no one even bothered to ask if I had any questions....and even if I did, they wouldn't hold still long enough to answer them! I was laying in the bed venting all of this to my nurse.....ok, more like I was a weird psycho kind of calm while chewing her butt at the same time, and just when I couldn't take anymore

      MY WATER BROKE

They induced me w/ a gel--name escapes me at the moment--and the real contractions started....they were very similar to the ones I had when I first started TOM as a teen. They checked me and I was only 1 cm dilated, so they gave me this pill that I had to wait for, because they have to wait 4 hours after they've tried to gel to try the pill. I got the pill, contractions continued....4 hrs later only 2cm dilated! Got another pill, and 4 hrs later..still the same, (*insert the above venting passage here*) after my water broke, they decided to start the pitocin, which worked really well very fast. I was glad, because there had previously been lots of talk about me having to have her by c-section, and I really didn't want that. I didn't want any drugs....but they had a realu concern for the baby, and I had the possibility of a c-section, so they went ahead and gave me an epidural. I pushed twice, and my 3rd contraction pushed her out! She was delivered by the RN and Grady, which was really amazing. You guys should have seen how helpful he was....and I'm not just saying that, I mean I had her so fast the doctor and the other nurse didn't have time to make it to my room to help my nurse, so Grady was the only other pair of hands! Talk about cool---he loved it...I think that was the first time I've seen every tooth in his head

We made it home yesterday around 1 PM and she is eating and sleeping alot more now than she did in the hospital, which is great since she's so tiny! They don't let ya rest at all in that joint Anywho, that is my update...sorry for the delay!

Sorry it took me so long to get here and respond...the little one demands most of my time! Thanks again for the congrats

        Re: Congrats, Iyshia!

Congrats! I will have to check out her pic from home. It's blocked here at work. Sounds like quite the ordeal you went thru Iyshia. Glad all turned out well in the end. You'll soon forget all the pain you're little princess brought you in the delivery room.

                Re: Congrats, Iyshia!

Gratz! She is sooooo adorable! She is so tiny, I saw a 5 lb baby this weekend and I was afraid I was going to break her. Kate was 6 lbs 8 oz, and I had a hard time trying not to break her hahah so I can only imagine a 5 lb baby.
