    Re: Could I be pregnant?

I know this is way late, but I'm curious how many carbs the doctor told you to eat minimum.......I'm starting to try for our first, and I guess I need to set a dr appt - I just don't want to tell them I'm crazy for doing atkins right now!

      Re: Could I be pregnant?

      Hi Shellybeth,
I was not pleased with the doctors that I had when I was pregnant. They never took me seriously and acted like PCOS was fine with a pregnancy. They told me that I needed to eat carbs or it wouldn't be good for the baby because it wouldn't be getting all that it needed. They told me to eat things like wheat bread, crackers, etc. I was stupid and since they didn't make a big deal, I didn't either. They never told me how many carbs to eat. I asked them specifically and they told me that I could NOT stay with Atkins while pregnant. This time, since I just found out that i am pregnant again, I will find a doctor who knows more about my PCOS and how many carbs I need to eat daily to have a healthy pregnancy. Make sure you get a doctor that will talk to you about your eating plan. I didn't and am never going back to that dr's office.

This is the second time trying Atkins and hopefully this time it will be a permanent life change for me.

        Re: Could I be pregnant?

I just have to add..because it annoys me so much..that docs throw such a fit about atkins..yet I was horribly sick..throwing up all day for 22 weeks of my pregnancy and felt sick the remainder...lost 20lbs..I don't think I was keeping much down at all. My daughter was 7.5lbs and healthy as could be. They didn't seem to concerned about me then! Imagine how much better it would have been even eating the atkins way-lol! Sorry, for my little rant. I would not get to caught up in "counting" but more focused on eating good whole foods and grains. You can't go wrong with that!

Just as an aside..I also have PCOS and got pregnant w/ #1 after losing weight. Looks like things are kicking back in gear again..as I ovulated last month..first time in a LONG while-Yay!

          Re: Could I be pregnant?

Oh man, this thread is kind of freaking me out a little bit lol I had no idea that Atkins helped so many people get preggers. That's awesome and congrats emmyn74! Thankfully I'm on birth control so I hope I dont have anything to worry about for a while.
